This is some exciting news!
My home team, Turner, upgrades one of their GT3 entries to Pro for the Rolex and the endurance cup. Hoping they have much better luck in the R24 than in previous years! https://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/n...y3HtHAR-Pi1tNI |

Honestly in WC last year they where on the podium about every race with Auberlien doing the heavy lifting but second half of the season Hull made a huge jump but then the team ran into bad luck they could have easily won the Pro-Am championship got beat by Farnbacher/Harrison and Heylan/Luck

That Magnus livery is great!
And in case it was missed, Marshall has some good tech tours of the new GTP cars. BMW just dropped after the Acura last week. https://racer.com/2023/01/16/video-g...-v8-tech-tour/ |

Nice, looks like he got a bit of the FlexBox money Bennet used to use but they've been active on lots of cars lately

The Galp sponsorship suggests a Portuguese driver. Or is it a 'leftover' deal from the Barbosa days?

Pretty interesting article from Autoweek about the lack of Americans in IMSA prototype drives. I can't say this is something I have thought much about in the past.

Yep, it does seem that the prototype ranks are pretty slim of American drivers.
Seems to have become more of a problem over the last few years ever since LMP1 was no longer allowed to race here. Maybe just a coincidence. Was hoping for more American involvement with the new GTP class coming to town though. With Indy and NASCAR taking the top billing here, IMSA has a lot do compete with attracting young new talent. |

If there were plenty of qualified American Prototype drivers outside of the 5 that are currently in GTP, then the factories would have not hesitated in hiring them I feel. But they haven't so that kind of nips the complaint in the bud. Seems some of the American Indycar drivers are sticking to their Indycar commitments it would seem. Those are the only others I can think of that would have the chops to compete in GTP. This isn't nascar (sort of), where the majority of fans of a certain political spectrum would likely riot or walk out on the series if there were an influx of non-american drivers all of a sudden. When I hear these journalists writing these articles and other folks talking about how eUrOpeAn the series is as if it's some sort of detriment to the health of it, I say move past that...this isn't about you. There's a reason why the Rolex 24 as a race has exploded massively in popularity since after the merger in '14. IMSA unified sportscar racing in this country making it relevant again and opened the door to so much more, that included some of the biggest names in all of racing wanting to have a go at it. |

Yeah, it's an article topic meant purely for the xenophobic clicks, see at least twice annual Racer Indy story of the same thread. ALMS days no one cared but now suddenly it's a huge deal?? Yeah, I think more the reporters who think it is should retire

Looks like we're possibly getting 3 Acura GTPs for 2024, WTR is apparently looking at running a second car next year according to S365. Guessing that could be an Andretti car

IndyCar has many 40+ year old drivers, and for some reason IMSA hasn't managed to hire them and keep them (excpect for Bourdais).

Update from the Lambros! https://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/...-hypercar-gtp/
Project director Giorgio Sanna is taking the soft approach and easing the LMDh program into WEC and IMSA for 2024 with just one car. I was kinda wishing they'd start with the usual 2 car program...bummer, but at least they'll be on the grid nonetheless. Looks like 2025 will be the year they go full on. One thing I kept forgetting until I read this article is they chose Ligier for their chassis supplier. For a while they were the only remaining constructor that hadn't been selected to build for an LMDh team before Lambo came along. Very pleased to see that! |

This is so far the only LMDH with Ligier chasis so cannot rely on already tested and raced other chasis. Yes the 4 lmdh cars have done it this year but they did not really have a choice in not racing. Maybe Lamborghini is less willing to debut the car in a 24 hours race so early in the year. |

One more P3 entry announced for Sebring: https://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/l...ad-at-sebring/
And we might see Muehlner joining P3 for the 12H as well. |
