I recall Honda NA included clips of the privately entered Euro Accord that raced in the short lived NATCC series in commercials for their brand. OTOH, Honda NA did provide contingency money to the team? I wonder why doesn't Honda and other manufacturers do the same? You win a race in a pre-determined series (like the BTCC/WTCC) and XXX dollars or GBP?

Reference Mike Jordan - yes, he is absolutely fine. The car is currently being built back up around a new shell ready for the new season and he's raring to go. They have been busy moving to bigger workshops recently (all through Christmas) and right at this moment they are getting the livery on Andrew Jordan's Renault Clio.

On the Honda website they have articles on TD success. From a Honda marketing view, I think it would be worth Honda UK giving Dynamics funding (say £100,000 a year) in return for Honda stickers on the car.

I miss the days of proper works liveries.

Which is a bummer imho I hoped they would go for a JAS Accord and help to develop it further, but I guess they want to do it their own way.

so with all the "big guns" like team rac, team dynamics and vxr all developing new cars do you think we might see a real independant running at the front or does this mean seat who run the s2000 last year will run away with it!

I would hardly call buying a pair of 320's to 'develop on their own'.

Especially with BMW assistance for the first part of the season, WSR should be in a stronger position that TD, and maybe VX (but that depends on how their testing goes).

With WSR having BMW support does that still make them elligible for the Independant championship??? And is there a chance that the WSR car will have BMW motorsport stickers on it?

I don't see TD running a Civic as a good plan. I thought that their biggest advantes of the Integra was it's superior aerodynamics over the old Civic. (and reliability) How aerodynamic is the new Civic, as it's a hatchback I don't think it will be any better than the Accord (which is the most streamline design in it's class )

He deserves it, he's proved he's quick. It's good to see him in a good team for next season, and personally, i can't wait for 2007!

I wouldn't be suprised if another independent in older machinery can take a win or at least give the biggers teams a run for their money.

Hopefully, it will make for a very exciting year with 25+ cars possibly on the grid with varying levels of reliability and competitiveness. Funny, it took S2000 to give the BTCC this much life.

This is shaping up to be a great season - young talent coming in with what should be a very competitive car, some all-new cars (fingers crossed the BMW 120 makes it to the start - anyone got any up to date info?) and some BTC machinery to mix it up a bit.

Can't wait

In my opinion, they look to be almost the same. The Civic may be a bit more aerodynamic, actually.

Its not really the switch to S2000 that has done it, more the hard work by Alan Gow in attracting new drivers/teams.

I agree.

He made the decision to switch, he has worked hard to attract all the new teams and he has dragged the series up from what it was in just 3 years.

Just look what he did in the 90's and look what he is doing again. It's no concidence that when he wasn't around the series went downhill and since he returned its on the way up.

Like him or not but his record speaks for itself and he sure knows what hes doing.

I think the regulation switch has something to do with it. So many teams debuted last year with S2000 cars, knowing that in 2007 they would have experience of the single regulations, when teams like Dynamics and WSR would not. A single set of regulations also allows teams to know that they are competitive on an even keel.

If you look at things, there was a big drop in entries from 2004 to 2005 (IIRC, 2005's highest entry of 17 was equal to 2004's lowest), but that was down to a series of individual problems (Vic Lee's arrest, MG cutting support, GA having internal problems) rather than one major problem with championship costs or appeal. For 2006 a lot of new teams were brought in, mostly in S2000 cars, and hopefully they will ensure a big grid.

ah, but the value of the BTC cars (they are all second hand I think) makes the cars more affordable for privateers. They are a little cheper now that the rules have changed and you can't win the series with it

Boots did say new teams not new drivers, so you can remove Kizilirmak and Leason from that list. I would probably discount Kizilirmak anyhow on the basis that he wouldn't necessarily choice to drive a BTC-T car, he just used whatever 888 happened to be running at the time.

Without taking away from the work that Alan Gow has done, much of that wouldn't have been possible without the switch to S2000.

Yes and who was it that made that decision? Only one person. Alan Gow.
(the major teams preferred to keep racing what they were building and racing)

So it wasn't the switch to S2000 but Gow's hard work, yet the switch was Gow's work

BTW, I know the first quote wasn't from you but you did reply to say you agreed with Alfa Fan's comments.

The point Boots, Andy and myself are trying to make is that if Gow had decided not to switch to S2000 then his subsequent work would have come to very little.
