wow oli gavin harshly scolding race control, calling conditions unsafe and mystified by some of the decisions taken, when they're going to green etc.

Time to red flag the race now
Yeah, I would put Estre & Vanthoor in the "next best" category (with Martin, Buncombe, Kaffer, anyone else you want to add?) because Tandy is in a class of one.

Oliver Gavin sounds really angry that the race hasn't been called yet. He says that T1 in particular is very dangerous.

David Land has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
This is how it should have gone in 2009. Give the fans a race!

Tandy is clearly one of the premiere racing drivers in the world.

More PC shenanigans. #8 off at the chicane, another PC (#11?) stopped on the straight. Just as the #31 & #10 (and #25 BMW) had pitted as well.

Technically it's mostly the waivers. No reasonable amount of weight or engine restrictor would overcome the tire and aero package they have.

they are claimed to be running the same tires as their competition in this race: 2015 WEC full wet michelins; in particular: the same construction / compound as the others. Michelin went ahead and reached out to RLM to have Hindy correct his previous statement which said otherwise.

Rcz should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Perhaps DP have too much torque? The DPs aero gain are most likely useless on this type of track when wet.

While GTLM probably have some computer program to control the engine power for wet conditions. P1 factories have this so maybe GT factories do too.

Hindhaugh said that they are 2015 WEC-spec wet Michelins, however the compound is exclusive to Porsche, being the car is Rear-engined, rear wheel drive as opposed to the other cars.

and he retracted that statement lateron after Michelin kindly let him know he got it wrong. He even added "although that's not what the Porsche guys were telling me", but he followed the Michelin lead.

Some very harsh words indeed from Ollie Gavin there, someone whose opinion I generally give quite a lot of weight to indeed. I don't think anyone can dispute it is extraordinarily challenging out there (Tandy, despite all the pace, has a lot of quick hands moments per lap it seems!), but is it really "fatal"? I sure hope that's hyperbolic. I honestly think it is.

Personally I'm content at this point with them continuing to race. If you do not believe it is safe or worth the risk, you're free to park it. Niki Lauda did it, and almost nobody doubts his courage or talent.

I'm pleased to see the GTLM win, even if I think they should have run it for another 2 hours, because I think a GTLM would still have won!

Well, that happened. The first time the top class hasn't won overall in an American endurance race?

I believe we have seen a handful of situations during this PLM that could have ended in a potentially fatal impact as a followup to what happened on track. Couple close calls. I of course want to see racing as well, but when the drivers complain like that, and we see officiating as shown today on top, there should be an attitude adjustment in race control...

Yes, you can argue what the top class was in the first year of the DP formula. But TRG did indeed win overall at Daytona in the DP debut year.

Certainly the 911 deserved the overall win, but that somewhat sudden ending seemed to mess up some championships didn't it?

Unless one counts the Audi LMP1 vs LMP2 deal in the ALMS in '07 and '08, last time top class didn't win a US road race overall I think was Daytona in '03. Then back in '94 a GT car won Daytona overall.

You're right; Viper in 2001, Corvette the next year, Porsche in 2003. So it's not unique, but still very unusual.
