I do use the ignore function, but when an entire thread centers around a person it's unfortunately not as useful.
We talk about Danica being a relevant top driver or whatever. It's hard to take this line seriously when she never raced in Formula 1. Meanwhile the others mentioned are Damon Hill, Jenson Button, Ant Davidson, Johnny Herbert, Karun Chandock and Martin Brundle. There's 2 world championships and almost 40 F1 wins there, plus 2 Le Mans victories. The pundit package is not short of achievements. |

they have women on TV now dont you know!
https://www.reuters.com/breakingview...23-2022-12-23/ https://www.f1academy.com/Latest/6Rc...f1-academy-are As the number of female fans of F1 has risen to 40%, this is reflected in the faces of those watching trackside. In 2019, women made up 20% of Grand Prix attendees and in the space of four years, that has grown to almost a third. numbers like that to me suggest the desire to include more women in the broadcast is not merely an attempt at tokenism but rather a genuine attempt to catch up to where the audience really is at these days....a trend i suspect every major sport has known for like decades now (NFL and NBA certainly). Pinkham, Collins, Brookes, Schiff, and Patrick all bring insight while also speaking to the changing demographic of the sport. thats a great thing imo. and to SKYs credit they seem more than willing to embrace this with individuals who have knowledge of the sport rather than just picking people who solely look pretty on TV. combine that with the massive amount of coverage each race weekend (10-12 hours of unscripted television was mentioned earlier and more even during sprint weekends), the improvements in picture and audio quality, the ever increasing number of camera placements, investments in technology, the quality of pre and post race analysis with multiple points of view being expressed, accessibility to all the teams and drivers... i watch a lot of sports...to much really so when i say SKY's F1 coverage is without a doubt an absolute global leader in terms of sports coverage quality it is something that is coming from my own experiences. if you have the time, then its well worth the price of admission imo. anyways, related/not related but here are a few recent words by Alan Moore (and yes i also read too many comic books!) on the subject of fandom... i think a good reminder why any fandom one wishes to participate in (in our case here its racing) does not have to be such divisive thing! challenging other fans because they dont hate things the same way you do is ****ing boring! https://www.theguardian.com/books/20...gate-and-trump An enthusiasm that is fertile and productive can enrich life and society, just as displacing personal frustrations into venomous tirades about your boyhood hobby can devalue them. Quite liking something is OK. You don’t need the machete or the megaphone. |

I am loathe to use any ignore function, but would if I felt that was my best option. I don't see myself adding anyone anytime soon. I "try" to use the scroll past function, but sometimes that doesn't work.

Forums are for discussion.
That is what was going on. Seems you people even the more senior, do not really understand that point. (nothing new there). What is this thread for if it is not for discussion about F1 on tv? Do tell me what else you would like to talk about. Or I simply think you would rather I did not talk about anything as you would prefer your nice little safe space. I will simply add that compared to many other sports F1 is heavy on presenters, perhaps only cricket compares as you have maybe 5 or 6 commentators, football, rugby, even other Motorsport has far less. That was all I was really saying. Beyond throwing a few curve balls out there. Seems I am not allowed to ignore Mallett, will just ahve to scroll |

I don't see how it can be irrelevant in the commentary context. Danica's been brought in as a commentator/pundit because of her achievements and experience as a female driver. Desiré Wilson was outstanding, especially given the era she was racing in. However not wanting to detract from her achievements, how many people watching motorsport today will remember her, or have even heard of her? |

There are still enough of us wrinklies around that certainly do remember her, BJ. In fact, there will probably be enough somewhat younger than I that will remember her.

Certainly at Brands many younger ones would know her name thanks to the Desiré Wilson Grandstand between the start line and the Paddock Hill Grandstand. |

That is one of the things I enjoy watching, and interestingly I will watch that at times independently of watching a race.

You stated previously 'I have not watched a race for a long time'. And you have also said 'I do not watch [F1]' As well as a statement that you do not watch any F1 content 'I have completely lost any love for F1, I still keep up to date but no longer watch races or anything' Now with this post, you seem to suggest that you watch Ted's Notebook? May I ask where you watch this? - AFAIK it is currently only available to SKY subscribers? |

Based in Australia we can watch it either live or replay via the subscription streaming service Kayo or Foxtel satellite, depends on the country I suppose for the provider, but I'm not a Sky subscriber as such.

Foxtel also, with their Sports package (ie F1 Sky feed included) gives you free access to the F1 TV Pro App with all the live functions that includes.... Individual onboards, live timing plus a choice of the 'International' (Sky) Commentary feed or the alternative which I suspect is the Channel 4 comms but not 100% on that. Plus access to the F1 race archives, docos, features etc

The sky team, on screen and backstage, should be complimented for how well they coped with the rain delays this evening. They kept the viewers informed and entertained in a difficult, and changing, situation.

Entirely agreed. They could have just filled with nonsense, but they managed to include interesting interviews with loads of people who'd normally be busy and unavailable. I had to laugh at Ted's impromptu piece about Toto's chair though, that was so silly it was vacuous and entertaining at the same time.
