Excellent again from the Sky team this morning, havinng a very early on-air time, c6:30am local time, so probably at the circuit from 5am. they coped with rapidly changing conditions throughout the qualifying session, and provided informed, relevent and entertaining commentary and analysis.
The input from Bernie Collins was especially informative, for the tactical insites. |

From what I saw, it was quite well done. Mind you I only saw the post quali in the pub with the sound off. But well done them for covering it. Do like Bernie Collins, she does add a lot. She's interesting in all interviews and analysis I've heard her in

This weekend has provided a large number of unusual senarios. The comentary and production team have done an excellent job in very difficult circumstances.

I thoroughly enjoyed Sky's coverage of the entire race weekend, they did an outstanding job.

The thing that bothers me most about coverage is when commentators say the stereotypical thing rather than what is actually happening. It’s not limited to commentators though.

Huge amount happening over the weekend, the Sky production team were across everything.
I actually enjoyed Ted’s feature on learning to drive the F1 car, I hope there is a fuller version released. |

I watched today with a friend who has the package but does not watch F1, his comments about Croft are not repeatable, at times he is bearable but the shouting really is rather chlidish and silly. I enjoyed Karun today, and think he could easily be a lead commentator so I take back earlier criticism.

At least be glad you could actually see the Sky coverage, as off as it was at times from both of them. Missing the Sainz spin completely as it happened on their own screens until he hit the wall was a bad look. Both guys were trying to guess what they were going to see instead of watching and THEN commenting more than a few times.
ESPN decided to cut it between 2 channels, or YouTube TV screwed up something, and then delayed it 18 minutes for not live pickleball so that was special here |

Enjoyed the coverage. Great camera work. James Hinchcliffe is always fun to listen to

Yes, that's one thing I don't like is the ad breaks. Miss having live uninterrupted racing on FTA like we did on the BBC

But there seem to have been many more ad breaks in the highlights of the last two GPs.....

I wait for about 20 minutes then watch the Ch4 highlights and fast forward through the ads.

I thought so too when I watched my recording of the programme this morning (fast-forwarding past them) and though that it must be an indication of how popular F1 is becoming recently (so more advertisers want to have adverts within the coverage).

It is also affected by the time of day that the races are broadcast, because traditionally more people will be watching TV, regardless of channel, during the evening and so more advertisers will require air time and therefore you get more adverts. After all, it's the advertisers that keep these channels on air. If you record some programmes that are shown, let's say, at 1 a.m.or 3 a.m., you will often find that there are no adverts at all; in the breaks, they will just broadcast promos for other programmes. |

There are of course lots of reasons, it is a good thing in a way, even on SKY I noticed some of the ads pre race were very aimed at women and families, whereas perhaps not so much in the past. Not high end either, a lot of basics, family household items advertised, this is a good thing as it means to the hosts F1 is obviusly commanding very high viewing figures to be able to pitch sales at stuff away from blokes and car biased people

for several years now, the adverts i have been most exposed to during F1, NFL, or NBA games that i watch are for this show called 'The Good Doctor' to the point where, without ever having seen an episode, i could probably give you a very accurate account of the shows entire plot history. that and sports betting ads! |

This is the very reason that I record at least 95% of everything that I watch, even live events. I actually haven't watched F1 since Bernie sold his soul to SKY after promising that he would not permit F1 in the UK to go behind a paywall or become subscription based, so that is of no concern to me. I do, however, watch our premier saloon championship, the BTCC, which is shown live on free to air TV that has adverts. So what I do is start watching the recorded programme after about an hour has elapsed, and am then able to fast forward over the adverts and usually finish watching the 6 or 7 hour programme - their are 3 main races plus other classes of racing during the day - at about the same time as the broadcast itself finishes. |
