Darkness level wise,
N24+S24, awesome Sebring+PLM, adequate LM, ranges from good to acceptable Bathurst, good but darkness is gone so fast it's kinda wasted Daytona, banking is okayish but infield way too lit WEC COTA, crap WEC Bahrain, crap and insulting |

Note the adequate and better tracks are also the proper old style road courses - not Tilkes or (yuck) rovals.

I was just watching Lanky's video from the Daytona test again and I noticed that the WTR car has Dallara stickers on the mirrors. I've never noticed the Corvette DPs with any signage of their respective chassis manufacturers before. Have I just missed this in the past or is it new this year?

The shocking thing is that Spa hasn't yet sold it's soul on that front, like it has in the gargantuan F1 asphalt runoff areas. I can't believe how pitch black that circuit is when sun has set. I guess FIA or anyone else doesn't particularly care how they run the 24 hours (which is a good thing)

Might be greasing the skids for a Dallara DPi. It seems against IMSA/NASCAR policy to actually mention an actual DP manufacturer. |

Image if Grand am never had Gen 3 DPs, but we would be still stuck with Gen2 DP instead. Image the horror of a Gen2 Dallara go down the straights of Sebring.

You took that too literally. Spa gets to host F1, that brings in a lot more exposure than the other races held there. Don't think Spa would fail without F1, but look what happened with other tracks. Threats to Monza come to mind. It's best to be on the safe side of the FIA/FOM, even if Bernie's fees are excessive. That's part of the reason tracks here in the U.S. aren't riddled with runoff areas and the like. No F1 to worry about, no FIA to worry about.

But put a gun to my head and force me to pick a DP to have to deal with until the end of time, and I'd actually take the Crawford DP08 over the Gen3 designs: |

I'm watching the 2008 Rolex on YT and boy is it ugly.
40 GT class car though, and I'm guessing 30 are FrankenPorsches. Looked like a Porsche SuperCup race at the start. |

I could never take Grand Am seriously not only because of the ugly DPs. But the GT cars were slow and not the elite GTs we saw in ALMS GT. It is not a coincidence that my first Daytona 24 that I saw in person was in 2014 after the merger. The first time that the elite GT cars ran there. |

I think David Hobbs agrees with the majority of us regarding the lighting:

I think Eduros are probably incredibly difficult to cover on TV, no tv channel is going to dedicate that much time to well, let's face it, a rather unpopular form of racing. And it definitely dosen't help it hard to see the race on tv in the dark.
It's a damn shame we lost Speed at a important time in sportcars. We definitely need a mainstream dedicated motorsports channel now. The sprint races should be easy to be put on broadcast tv, I say they got to have 8 of those races on fox to help bring in new fans. |

It's ironic that the much loathed ALMS ESPN TV deal of 2011-2013 brought more mainstream coverage with the partial season ABC network broadcasts, than full NASCAR series with all of it's potential marketing power with it.

Which, incidentally, is exactly what I'd predicted(save for the merger), and was quite heavily criticized for it.

http://www.racingsportscars.com/phot...008-01-27.html 24 Beetles by my count, which is 20 too many IMHO. Those DPs were pretty hideous as were the Pontiac GXPs. |

The Rileys were particularly hideous.
