In 2021 two 007's; one owned by a customer.
Both will be managed by factory team equally. We're in discussion with a different customer and it looks like we'll have two 004C's racing at the N24 in 2021, both managed by factory and possibly an additional 007 for 2021. |

I've just noticed that on the official website the 007 is referred to as "LMP1 race car", even though it's the least LMP-looking out of all hypercars so far (not counting the very vague rendition of Peugeot).

As a notable pessimist of this forum I won't hesitate to ask the team a perfectly silly question. Is there any possibility to grow new Halls and Gurneys, Chapmans and Broadleys in the modern sports reality where everything is standardized and ballanced? Can journalists put more efforts to write about something that is not heavily loaded with cash from manufacturers? I do not believe that there's no other alternative to a bunch of Orecas camouflaged as "production cars" heavily distorted by a malfunctioned press. Even in difficult economic situation.

Only way we'll see that happen is if the rules really get opened up on aero and chassis design, and engineers unlearn what the have the past 10-15 years.

The cost to meet ever increasing regulation is beyond belief. Even a micro company like ours will face 100mm$ in costs to bring 300? Vehicles to market per year. We will survive but I fear that very few will follow in our footsteps as we've followed in Briggs, Carol's and Jim's. When Porsche feels that they no longer have to design, build, and engineer a top class Le Mans race car from the ground up to claim that they won Le Mans, and their customers don't care what that "Porsche" really is we're in uncharted waters. There're constructors' championships on a club level, but mainstream media prefer not to waste their time to dig any facts and write decent articles. I fear they are going to treat Oreca-cup at the same "info-technological" level as true constructors just because huge names came in these difficult times. I'm still sure, it's up to the media to make any type of racing interesting for average fans, to write about tech and those who promote it. Not just about famous names and signboards. All the best wishes to Glickenhaus and their projects. I hope they'll inspire somebody else.

As long as the ACO, FIA and IMSA keep catering to the big wallets of the likes of the OEMs and Oreca and such, things are the way they are. Not to mention rules and trends that point towards on basic right way to do things.
Not to mention that we've seen the likes of Pescarolo and Dyson struggle against OEM factory teams when they came back to the ALMS and LM. Oddly, even though more restrictive rules may seem to tighten up the field on the stop watch, it encourages less ROI on diminishing returns. We see that in NASCAR and Indy Car with quasi-spec cars. The tight rule books actually at best maintain the status quo between the haves and have-nots. Gap on the watch might be smaller, but those small gains are harder for smaller teams to find and exploit. |
