ISK should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The 'old' Snett is brilliant on GP legends (circuit download). Its got a real mix of fast & slow corners.
The sign for 'that' petrol station is even visible though the hedge on the Norwich straight.

ISK, thanks for that, I downloaded the track at the weekend and it is great fun.
GPL and the way it is still evolving never ceases to amaze me. If you haven't already, check out the many threads on GPL in the Armchair Enthusiasts forum.

I think Snetterton as it is now is a pretty good circuit, but the old layout looks fantastic.

How much of the Norwich Straight and so on remains, the tarmac on the outside of Sear as was stated earlier is part of the old track.

The tarmac was dug up from to just past the old Sear to about a third of the way up the old Norwich straight. This happened only a year ago. The rest of the straight remains, about as far as the filling station and is occupied by the Sunday market. The hairpin area now contains a new roundabout and access to the circuit/market. The home straight is also intact - used as another part of the market and ends about 100m from the esses.

Yeah - what a great shot!
Look at the understeer. Its taken at Silverstone in the days when the apex of each corner had the small brick wall marking the edge of the track - can just be seen at bottom left. Must have been a fantastic place to stand to take photos back then. Can't imagine being allowed to stand that close on the inside of Copse these days!

Those rear engined Fiats pictured above used to race with the 'boot' lid propped open for extra cooling for the engine.
Trying to remember who raced them - Ed Swart springs to mind.

Ed Swart is quite right, Andrew. Other Abarth Fiat saloon drivers were Ab Goedemans, Toine Hezemans, "Pam", and even Arturo Merzario used to race one for a while.

And on the subject of the bootlids being propped open for cooling, wasn't it Bill Blydenstein and John Handley who deduced that if they could knock the boot stay off with their Mini Coopers, they could make the engine cover snap shut and the Abarths would overheat!

Here's what it looked like from the cheap side - a lot safer! The guy crouching and taking what could have been his last photo was well known for wearing (as he is here) an aluminised jacket.

This is John Rhodes at the International Trophy meeting 27th April 1968.

Just found this which seems to be the same Lotus 47 as in Andrew's posting on 20th October. I took it at the hairpin at Mallory. The date isn't recorded but it's in my album sandwiched between trips to Brands for the International on 29/10/67 and the Race of Champions 17/03/68!
The driver was John Calvert.
