Pretty sure the 05 Brock VN was changed to VP, HRT definitely updated one of their VN Grp A cars tro VP.
Then there is stories of the Lansvale Smach Grp A VN going all the way through to VR???? Highly doubt all the VPs running around were built from scratch rather then covnerted VNs. I know loads of the VPs went to VR/VS specs |

As well as the Audi, Dolomite, Escort and Capri that you mention, I can add a few more. The yellow "Unleaded" RX7 at Bathurst in 1985 had been converted from a Group C car. The von Bayern JPS 635 at Bathurst in 1984 had also been both Group C and A. Gulson's Alfetta GTV6 ran in both categories. The ex Williamson, ex Daily Planet Celica ended up as a white Group A car in Victoria. The Highway Patrol and Roadways VKs from Bathurst 1984 were both converted to Group A cars for 1985. John Goss ran the Jaguar XJS in both categories too. Can anyone add to this list? |

Built new as a Group A car for this race and then used in 1985 by Jim Richards. You are confusing it with the Group C car used in the 1984 race that was later converted to Gp A at the end of the season and used by Neville Crichton in early 1985 then sold to Jim Keogh. |

The article mentions that HRT's lack of funding meant that the VN's would be converted to VP, and that the Advantage (Mobil 1 Racing) outfit was in the same situation. Without too much digging, legend has it that before HRT made a second 1996 "supercar", Brock's 1996 VR was one of these aged VN's. On the falcon side, you could say that the heart and brains of at least one or two Sierra's went into Moffat's Cenovis EB falcon as well in 1993, before upgrading several components to full Group 3A specs. |

How so on the Cenovis Falcon bearing any connection to the Sierra? Surely not in a mechanical sense? I have the interview somewhere from Bathurst 1993, with Chris Economaki (sp?) interviewing Allan Moffat, in front of the Cenovis EB with the bonnet up. Allan Moffat proudly boasting the virtues of the carburettor they were running, vs. the fuel injection of everyone else, and how much money they had saved etc. The car was a dog that year, and eventually retired, I think with a broken gearbox. It reappeared next year with injection fitted. Last edited by brown dog; 8 Jul 2011 at 20:51. |

Brown dog, I'll admit I was probably drawing a long string on the Falcon, but it certainly was less of a Falcon than the DJR and GSR one's.
http://www.allanmoffat.com.au/again/cars_ebfalcon.htm It does outline on this page that "The gearbox, along with a lot of the other components including brakes, diff, fuel delivery system, and coolers were all ex-Sierra, while the wheels were sourced from Glenn Seton Racing." Thats certainly alot of sierra! |

Anyone know what the regs for the "new" 5 litre class were as far as wheels go? The eye-crometer suggests that Seton may have been running 18" wheels on the PJ Falcon. Last edited by brown dog; 9 Jul 2011 at 01:55. |

HRT had disposed of its VNs by 1996 with all 3 appearing at Bathurst that year. Brock raced chassis 032 in 1996 the car he had debuted at Oran Park the previous year. After it was damaged in the opening round at Eastern Creek he reverted to 030 (the 1994 built VP) for the Sandown round before 032 returned.

This might be a tad obscure, but anyone know what happened to the Toyota MR2's that contested the 1994 12 hour race at Bathurst. Specifically the cars piloted by Juan Manuel Fangio II and the John Smith/Bargwanna car?
I know this is off topic, but as the initial starter of this thread I would rather see an all in like it is rather than split. Cheers adz_34 |

Back on topic. Have the Bowden's completed (or started) Dick Johnson's 93 Bathurst crashed EB Falcon? I believe it was going to be rebuilt as the 94 Bathurst winning car. |

This is going to be a pretty hard job unless you want to say "anything under 5L in one thread, and anything over in another"
Or perhaps a cut out anything post 1997?? (birthdate of current V8Supercars?) Didn't Everlast Automotive run a VL in the 1995 Tooheys 1000? I think that was later converted to VR spec as well. Thats my guess at being the oldest of the new era V8's. |
