Sehr schön pirenzo! Big pics is REALLY the best!

I engineered that overtaking spot precisely. That hairpin bunches the cars right up, and of course there's no room for the concertina effect between the hairpin and the preceding corners. The hairpin is just tight enough to leave the following car just the correct distance behind to pounce into T4. I don't want to the cars too close as that would mean the following car will be tucked up behind to early, giving the defendent more time to take action, and i didn't want them too far apart or a pass wouldn't even be on the cards. I've tried to do exactly the same as Sepang, which i think gets it slightly wrong, in that a following car tends to almost trip over the one in front in the middle of T3.

Hmm... That i didnt figure ...

Well, i just draw my tracks, drawing what comes up to me, corner for corner. I never think "today im gonna make a track that has got this and this corner"...

Well, i do and i don't.

I tend to have an idea floting around my head at the start of the day, and during school i sit there doodling numreous configurations, each slightly different, then when i get home i translate it to excel and then fiddle with it some more. But i never start out with the intention of designing a specific sort of track, with specific corner combos.

You guys seen the Montmélo/Barcelona article on etracks?

That mod isn't going to help a jot. Campsa needs to be tighter.

You can use mine. Also, your link doesn't work, I get a "Page can't be found" error.

I've decided to take a go a redoing Indy. I found a map that shows what exactly is on the premises, so I don't accidentally take my track thru the paddock or the golf course. I extende the run behind the paddock and created a busstop chicane along it so it doensn't break the "max length rule". Sorry for it being a little cramped, started out as a 6?? x 3?? picture. I'll post a link if ne1 wants it.

Please do post it, Mandretti39!!!!

As a native of Indy who is extremely familiar with the IMS grounds, I'd love to see your version....

BTW....Just because "Shaw Boulevard" runs between holes on the Golf Course (the road in the infield that goes under the north short chute and roughly along the backstretch) don't discount it as an option....

I have done a "Revised Indy" that uses Shaw Boulevard so that the road course can ultimately incorporate all of Tunres 2 & 3, plus the backstretch itself as well...

Here is my revision....

Shaw Boulevard is plenty wide enough and smooth enough to race on, and installing the catch fences and walls (givent the surrounding space to that road) would be no problem at all!!!

The result is a 4.68 mi. road circuit that utilizes virtually all of the 275,000 grandstand seats in the facility...

One final note:

I'd cahnge the direction from Clockwise to Counter-Clockwise...

My seats would be in the beginning of Turn 3.....

YES!!!!

BTW....That image that shows the stands is about 2-3 years old now...

Thee are a lot more stands that run down the backstretch from Turn 3...they added about 45,000 seats in very recent years...

This would be my attempt

I'll tart it up in excel later.

I found several maps and images but all were pre-F1 so no circuit. Funnily enough though, you can see why they chose the layout of the F1 track that they did from the existing roads.

I got this 1:24'000 Topo map and marked the current GP course roughly on it, and then added my ideas on top
