He's not done much FWD Touring Car's at all has he ?

He was linked with Vauxhall as well last year too ? A real coup for the BTCC if he really has signed up.

Wasn't it Peter Dumbrek who was linked with VX last year?

I think so cos. But he would be a good addition to the championship, as long as he can adapt to the cars.

I seem to remember that both Turner and Dumbreck were linked with Vauxhall last year but that Colin Turkington's experience of front wheel drive and Gavin Smith's funding saw them take the seats. Nethertheless a SEAT line up of Plato and Turner would be rather strong.

Alfa Fan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!

I'm not a BTCC watcher coz I can't watch in over here, but I remember there were only few teams participating last season and mostly privateers... Tell me if im wrong, but BTCC is losing popularity.

There were certainly less cars, but TV viewing figures have been increasing since 2002.

You are wrong. It did last year - but I'm willing to see that as an anomoly, considering the interest (and confirmed entries) in 2006.

I'm actually encouraged by the privateers coming on board. We always seemed focused on works teams but these are the people we really need. I don't think Team Dynamics 2005 success did any harm at all - shows that if you can get a budget together works teams can be beaten.

Personally, I don't think it is bad thing that the BTCC is numerically dominated by privateer teams. Firstly, outfits such as Dynamics and WSR are on a par with their works counterparts. Moreover, manufacturers will only support a series as long as it is in their interests to do so, therefore strong privateers are required to ensure the long term survival of the championship.

I definitely think it's a tough balance for organizers--how many current privateers have the financial/engineering resources to design/build/run their own cars? It's a lot easier to buy pre-designed/developed cars?

Are we sure the "major announcement" that Just Do It posted about on Page 21 was the BMW team ?

I found this story (see link) interesting, considering the poster is in New Zealand not far from where this man has had a lot of interests in the last few years. Also the fact it is closer to the 20 day figure too:

Yeah... no offence to Mr Steel but TWR/G would be a much more major announcement.

One more thing - Dave Pinkney looks to be confirmed:

Right. I'm completely lost now, how many entries are we talking about, who are they, what are they driving, which are definite and which are rumored?

(Don't ask much do I? )

Well it's complicated by a further batch of rumours in today's MN:
HTML still working on a Super2000 entry
Leggate to return with the same combination as she had in 2005
WSR rumoured to have landed a major sponsor allowing them to field 2 MGs

As for a list, give it a couple of days to see what's announced at the Autosport show, then we'll have a better idea!

If the WSR deal works out i hope that they offer a drive to Collard again. Maybe turkington will return for to drive the 2nd car??

I hope thats true, WSR have done a great job for the series in the past few years on a shoestring budget. Would be great to see the MG's still about, despite the fact they effecively no longer exist!

It also said in MN that Matt Neal was confirmed at Team Dymanics, but Dan Eaves and Gareth Howell are still looking for the money.

I wonder if TD will still have Halfords backing this year?

Will be a shame if Dan Eaves can't get a drive with TD this year, he done a supurb job in 2005.

Sorry if this has been already covered, but are Team Dynamics going to use the Integras again or are they using the S2000 Accords?
Or is everyone here in the same boat, waiting for an announcement..

From what I have read both in Motorsport News today and else where on the internet it looks as if they are using Integra's again.
