I see from Autosport that Rob Collard, Ben Collins and Anthony Reid have been out testing Dave Pinkney's Alfa's at Snetterton, interesting group of names there.

All there for their own reasons!

Odd races here and there - British GT, Britcar, Goodwood FoS. Likely to be in British GTs next season.

Especially this bit!
At this stage we do not know who the drivers will be, who knows!! Matt I would like to keep with us and I would like to see Steven Kane move up to BTCC from Carrera Cup, he certainly has the speed and ability, but we really do have an open mind and are excited about next year as we feel we will be able to go out in 2008 to win.

One could argue if the Carrera Cup is a step up from the BTCC?

IMO BTCC is a step up from British Carrera Cup.

Carrera may have faster cars, but the BTCC is superior in all other ways. Its drivers and teams are of a higher standard, remember that Carrera only has about half a dozen full-time professional racers. It has a richer history, features a grea variety of cars, and can justify a schedule (complete with support races) of its own.

Of course a single make series with about 16 car grids to the BTCC is a step up!

Besides, I'd like to see the cockmobiles replaced with another support event. They would be more appropriate supporting another GT event.

but is it step up from racing in the GTs or FIA-GTs? Steven Kane enjoyed himself racing the Jaguar XKR at Silverstone and although that didn't go well it did show how good and knowledgable Steven is.

IMO it is a step up (although rather different) from British GT - it gets lousy press coverage and few drivers make the step up to other GT series (that I hear of), the only driver who has gone from British GT to any other series is Paul Drayson but then again he is a gentleman driver with lots of £££.

Among other names who've stepped up to the big leagues from Brit GT - Jonny Cocker, Andrew Kirkaldy, Mike Jordan (briefly), Jamie Campbell-Walter, Bobby Verdon-Roe, any of the TVR boys (Synergy and Richard Stanton's group), Tommy Erdos, Martin Short, Rob Barff, Allen Simonsen, etc. etc. etc.

It is undoubtly, but I guess it must be difficult to move from faster car to the slower one. But there's no slower, than mine, so I can't check

The hatchback racing was always the most entertaining on the BTCC support programme.

The Fiestas were amazing to watch, now the Clio's have taken that role.

More races like that and less dull single seater and porsche races the better.

You can have too much of something, though. I think the ToCA programme is perfectly balanced
