Yes , or Parente+Clos , but its less likely.
Javier Villa signs for Arden and will start for them from Abu Dhabi. Confirmation soon. |

Oh whats is that all about D`ambrosio back with DAMS, after they almost killed his and Kobayashi`s careers last year. I would have expected him to go to a better team like RE.
Shame for him and RE, i think they could have been favourites. Looks like ISport ART and Barwa will take all the spoils this year! |

D'Ambrosio's situation is still very speculative, in less than 1 week he was "almost certain" in 2 teams. I'm expecting that after Renault announcement of their reserve drivers, Genii will probably get a set for him and Tung, probably in a Renault junior team like someone mentioned above.
Anyway, IMO D'Ambrose is just an average driver, and even if he stays with DAMS, it's almost impossible that they'll do as bad as last year. |

It is announced on the respective driver profiles of Tung and d'Ambrosio on the newly-unveiled official Renault F1 website that they will drive for DAMS in 2010 - in Renault F1-liveried GP2 cars. They form the RF1 Driver Programme along with Jan Charouz who will compete in World Series by Renault.

I see that Tung will be Renault's 3rd driver. Won't it be a bit embarrassing for Renault when D'Ambrosio beats him at DAMS?

Vietoris signed for Racing Engineering. My guess on the other teams line-up: Rapax : Razia + Nunez comeback Coloni : Valerio + Maldonado DPR : Herck + Arabadjiev Trident : Coletti + Gonzales Parente, Mortara and possible Filippi out. |

What are the chances of Parente joining Razia wherever he ends up? Renault have put their reserve drivers in the same GP2 team, what about Virgin?
Also, is Maldonado still in with a chance at Campos F1, or even USF1? |

I know the links with DAMS and Renualt F1 is a fairly obvious one but DAMS have never really looked like Main Series title contenders. Regardless of Asia its the main series that counts. They will still have all the same people at DAMS so what are they thiking putting Renault young drivers in such a poor team. A lot of the F1 teams are now looking to tie up with GP2 teams. I hear Virgin and McLaren are both keen on iSport and obviously they still have a Williams link through Frank Williams' son. Ferrari are linked to ART, Red Bull to Arden, Barwa will be to Campos. I don't think DAMS will be a successul tie up however. Plus Ho Ping is not fantastic and Jerome, it's his 3rd year in GP2, it's now or never, what will be different at DAMS this year compared to the last 2?

I get the impression from reading some articles that DAMS will officially be called the Renault F1 Junior Team? True? If so, sounds very F3000-esque, when we had the junior teams for the likes of Benetton, McLaren, Arrows, Minardi, Prost etc

DAMS was really strong in the late 80's and early 90's when they were heavily supported by Elf, but these times are long gone. So, i should probably take back what i said about them some threads above, because with this line-up they'll probably do as bad as they did last year.
In the article that Rf1 Fan posted, it's said that DAMS will be established as Renault Junior Team, i'm not sure if that implies a name change though. |

Dams will have new engineers. In plus D'ambrosio nearly never ran with other teams in 2008-2009 winter. This winter he drove with Racing Engineering,ART,Barwa,Isport and Ocean. I think that he will know how to manage improve the Dams car. |

Poor D'Ambrosio, he beat Kobayashi for 2 seasons and now he's 4th driver, while Kobayashi seems to have landed a top seat.

Doubtful. A good driver will sort problems quicker than 2 years! The only reason Renault are linked with DAMS is due to Gravity and Boullier. Anyone who actually runs a successful junior program knows the drivers need to be in the very best teams. |

I don't see anyone running a sucessfull junior program while betting in Tung, D'Ambrosio and Charouz, someone might even say that anyone who actually runs a successfull junior program must know that talented drivers need to be in the very best teams.

yes exactly, Renaults choice of drivers and team suggests they don't really know what they are doing. |

Spudy seems well informed as usual. Gravity/Renualt are obviously favouring money over talent in the case of Tung and d'Ambrosio really needs to sort himself out. Last Asia was ok but main series he was average. This season will be a good year for rookie talent but of the old guard Perez and Valsecci will be very hard to beat. d'Ambrosio will loose his head if the car is difficult, Van der Garde will be murdered by Perez (just compare the two in Abu Dahbi, VDG was worse than average!!) and that will leave the likes of Villa (time for GT racing) and Vallerio (time for beach volley ball).

Whow, whaw, hold on mate. I really doubt vdG gonna get murdered by Perez, they'll be closely matched I think. Perez is faster of the two but he makes silly mistakes. Nobody cares about Asia Series and I would not compare the two over one weekend in Abu Dhabi.
Have a strange feeling, that although main favs can be named it's going to be very close between teams and drivers. For the likes of Villa, d'Ambrosio or Filippi it's now or never, many great young guns will push very hard... and we are still waiting for Maldonado's, Parente's and Senna's plans -> don't believe in Campos in F1. |

Well, Parente is out of Virgin as one of his backers has pulled out, so unlikely to see him racing in GP2 this year.

Filippi wont drive in main series also - heard that watching qualifying on italian stream ( no money).
Senna returning to gp2 impossible , but Maldonado... who knows. And i wonder , Kralev saying "bla-bla-bla,i am improving my times for next season" if he means next gp2 asia season or he is talking about main series. |
