The new engine formula comes in, in 2021. So I would doubt Cosworth would want to design and develop an engine just for one season, then have to do it all over again to meet the new formula. Cosworth have got two years, in which to commit and design an engine.

NTT Data to be announced as Indycar Naming rights sponsor tomorrow?

IndyCar will make a special announcement that includes CEO Mark Miles, President Jay Frye and drivers Scott Dixon and Alexander Rossi on Wednesday afternoon, beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Indy TV schedule announced this afternoon, 8 races on NBC: Indy GP, 500, Detroit, Road America, Mid-Ohio, Portland and Laguna Seca, remaining on NBCSN. Qualifying is still to be announced.

Robin's mailbag says next week for series sponsor announcement:
RM: The official title sponsor announcement will be Jan. 15 and all I’ve heard is that it’s an Asian company. But NTT Data certainly got a ton of exposure in that NBC promo last Sunday night, and a lot of people are assuming that’s the new sponsor.

Having 8 races on NBC has got to be a step in the right direction. Being free to air, is how to attract the casual fan and grow your audience.

It's in total contrast to Formula 1, who as from this coming season, will be showing all live races in the UK on Sky, with only highlights on terrestrial TV.

Don't know how this slipped under the cracks here....but the Bommarito Auto group has signed a 3 year contract extension with Gateway International to serve as the title sponsor the Gateway Indycar race until 2021.

Also, I never realized how terrible the Gateway Speedway website is, poorly designed, loud and way too busy!

Interesting thought that came across my mind while reading the Firestone article. Excluding oval tires, how would Firestone tires stack up against other giants of the industry like Michelin, Dunlop or Bridgestone? Has there ever been a real world test of this in recent years that I don't know of? Given what we are witnessing now in IMSA with the VASTLY superior Michelins breaking a long standing track record and recording faster lap times than continental could ever hope to achieve, it makes me wonder how other tire manufacturers would compare to the Firestone Roadcourse tires.
