I have a small aerial photo of Imola in a book. I've got hold of a map and done my best to mark on it the locations of houses etc.

Though, my Tamburello would be a tight squeeze 'tween the buildings and the river. It should _just_ work though...

So this is my newest idea.
I made an altitude-diagram for my latest track, Cobru-Recogne. I also made the three timing sectors, and figured out the precise circuit length. Both on the graph and on the map, the space between two dots equals 100 m. That is approx. 40 pixels, and will be the scale i will use in the future (easy for measurement, because it equals the length of my second finger ). For those of you, who are used to the imperial system, and have trouble calculating from metric thereto, sorry, but i only know metric, and it takes too much time converting. The y-axis on the graph is metres above sea level. The reason why i chose the 100m. distance 'tween the dots is, that its easily convertable to % in increasing altitude. (Which are used for steep road. 9%, as an example, is if the road climbs 9 metres, for every 100 metres in forward motion. So its x number of metres in vertical motion, per 100 metres in horizontal motion). And sorry if it messes up the vb-borders, but i couldt make it smaller . Oh, and on the graph, turns that are placed above the line are left turns, them below are right turns. That gives an impression of the share of turns.

AFAIK, 1 mile = 1.6 km, so the total length of the circuit would be about 2.81 miles. Sector 1 would be about 1.125 miles, sector 2 would be about 0.688 miles, and sector 3 would be about 1 mile.

Yes, that sounds reasonable. It is 1.6 yes, but i was too damn lazy to convert .
So i guess there's 0.6 miles 'tween the dots. |

Oi, TR, you copied my idea!!! Check back to my 2nd track, Rennes, and you'll see that there are poorly drawn elevation and speed graphs. Obviously your's is much better in Powerpoint, I tried to do it in there too, but it backfired on my for some reason, so I had to do a crappy version in Paint , but that idea is mine, man! I'd like to do more of those graphs in the future, though Nice neat work, though, well done!

Thanks .
Well, pirenzo, its not my favourite of my tracks either, but i wouldnt go out and dig out one of my ol' tracks. Oh, BTW, happy birthday . I'm planning on the same for my new track, currently on the drawingboard. Crozier, i used the diagramme tool in Word, and pasted it into paint to make further additions (appropriate colours, corners etc.). It took me around an hour. But i took some time figuring out the right scale, and how to get the scale right (almost) throughout the circuit. |

Apparantly so The post from Kevin Underwood in this forum (http://www.racingcircuits.net//forum...tml?1073189666) also draws attention to this change, and provides a link to the circuit's official website, which also features the same picture as you just posted. So if it's on there it must be true

So, here's my newest creation. And this time you'll get everything at once.
Jamaica International Raceway Detailed Version Easy-See View Altimetre Sectors & Distances View And finally the track description: Jamaica International Raceway. Jamaica International Raceway is situated a bit outside of the town Bull Bay, 25 km. from downtown Kingston, and 10 km. from Port Royal International Airport. So, lets take a tour 'round the track! We start off on the Golan Grove Straight. It is situated on the infield, and with its 600 metres, a relatively short start-finish straight. From this, we go into Rayfes Corner. This is a fairly sharp corner, leading into The Sweep, which is an open, flat out, slightly ascending corner. This takes us into the Amtally Esses. Here the track ascends steeply, thru these pretty fast esses. We're now on the Amtally Plateau. A short straight leads us to the open-ended parabolica, at Amtally Hill. We now go down the VIP's Straight. Here, the VIP-area is situated, with the VIP-tower overlooking the track. The third pits are also situated here, used for the East Circuit, and the board oval. We now go into the fast Yanneh Bend, and enter the second timekeeping-sector. The track descends steeply thru the next couple of hundred metres. We're now on the longest straight of the circuit, the East Straight, with a length of 900 m. The track ascends slightly for Serge's Hairpin, the tightest corner on the track, and a key overtaking spot. From here, we go down the East'o'Morant straight. This straight ends in a very very fast left right flick-flack, the Morant Esses, which bares resemblance of the old Masta Kink at Spa. Now going down the West'o'Morant straight, and entering the third timekeeping-sector. We now enter the immensely fast Moona Curve. This turn bares resemblance to 130R at Suzuka. This takes us into the West Straight, where the secondary pits are situated. These are used for the West Circuits, the South Circuit, and the Outer Loop. The racing school is situated here aswell, using mainly the South Circuit. Being on the Mullett Plateau, we enter the medium-slow Mullett Hill corner. A short straight follows before Dusty Corner, a fast sweeping left. We now go up to turn 13, which is the entrance to "The Drop". Inspired by The Corkscrew and Eau Rouge, this right-left-right combination descends 20 metres on a vertical scale. Still descending thru the Final Kink, a fast right, we reach the start-finish straight, which slowly levels out. Detailed version -> http://www.bayanit.com/upload/protec...ica_detail.jpg Sector view -> http://www.bayanit.com/upload/protec...ca_sectors.gif Altimetre -> http://www.bayanit.com/upload/protec..._altimetre.gif Finally, a little overview over the different circuits: GP-Circuit: 4.7 km's, Counter-clockwise direction, uses primary pits. Infield Circuit: 2.2 km's, Clockwise direction, uses primary pits. Outer Loop: 2.8 km's, Clockwise direction, uses secondary pits. West Circuit: 1.5 km's, Clockwise direction, uses secondary pits. Extended West Circuit: 2.2 km's, Clockwise direction, uses secondary pits. South Circuit: 1.8 km's, Clockwise direction, uses shortened secondary pits. East Circuit: 2.4 km's, Counter-clockwise direction, uses third pits. Board Oval: 0.8 km's, Counter-clockwise direction, uses third pits. Man, this took me like 4 hours . Ya better be likin' it . |
