I think they are one of the teams IMSA keeps referring to as close but also think if they aren't at Long Beach it will be 2018 before they are on track.

Core confirms the move to GTD for next year. One Porsche 911 GT3R
PC car to be parked with immediate effect, not going to run COTA or Petit. http://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/co...draws-from-pc/ |

Wonder if it's old Core panels on a PC car, or and old Core car. The guys from Savannah Race Engineering run an 8 Star liveried PC car in HSR for Lawrence Huang. They're been playing with it without the restrictors too.
Sucks they won't be running the GTD car but understand how much of a change that could be and better to test it than race. |

I would love to hear the team's and drivers views on this. But the series is worried cars will be too fast at Daytona.

You don't think their is some release of liability clause in the entry forms? Plus how fast do stock cars go at Daytona? Much faster than we are expecting for DPi. Tubs should be strong enough to take damage, but yes racing has some inherent danger.

Stock cars at Daytona are only about ten-fifteen mph faster than last years Ligier through the traps.

That whole article brings back the queasy feeling that too many of IMSA's press releases have caused since before the merger.
Besides making the cars slower, the article also mentions that "probably" there will be a mix of DPIs and P2 at the Rolex ... and that no one has yet delivered a working anything. I hate to sound harsh ... but if IMSA were tom fold, I know a lot of "executives" that I wouldn't hire to run a convenience store ..... |

The concern is blowovers compared to NASCAR as much as anything if you're being realistic, although this will mostly be 200mph insurance fear mongering.
Anyways I really don't think they'll be that fast. Rebellion's trap speeds aren't exactly mind blowing. |

The thing is by limiting the proto speed, you have the GT cars climbing all over the back of the protos. Heck, the GTd cars were faster on the straights at Daytona then the GTLM cars, weren't they? Now you create a situation where the proto cars have to divebomb under brakes in order to pass, and that just means more incidents--at least to the way I see it. |
