Well I know it was necessary to test the Mondeo with rear wings in light of Alfa's performance. I just felt it looked a bit ugly though.

Obviously there was more to just sticking a wing on, as Alfa proved. Really I don't think it's that ugly

since everything BTCC related was probably already mentioned maybe something related

1996 Mitsubishi planned to enter german STW cup , they even build a mockup Carisma super tourer

maybe they would have considered BTCC too ?

Short answer, no.

Long answer, that mockup was made by the local Germany importer, nothing Mitsubishi-official about it. It was only going to happen if Mitsubishi part-funded it. Which didnt happen, there was never any BTCC plan at all. Colt Cars UK were happy in rallying and F3.

Were the Hales UK cars Ralliart? Were they not run by Asquith or something? I always felt the Starion and Lancer had potential, but the little Colt they ran looked very ungainly, very low budget but I guess you could back then and presumably running a tyre noone else did helped them,,,not!

Dowson possibly as Hales' prodsaloon Firestone backed Sierras were prepped by them. I think a Galant even appeared very late in the season replacing the Lancer?

1991

Barrie Williams linked to the 2nd Nissan alongside Kieth Odor.

Kurt Luby possibly entering a privateer BMW M3.

The Honda Concerto effort was intended as a 2-car entry but no drivers were actually mentioned at the time.

Jon Maguire Motorsport. Galant came first but the Lancer replaced it as it was heavy and unwieldy.

Hugely low budget for a team in BTCC even then. Hales could pedal but I think they used a Starion, Lancer and a Galant in their time, none of them really did much.

But in reality trying to compete with the top teams and very well sorted cars on a tyre that nobody else used was always likely to be tough. But the cars were not that bad.

Thanks for the team contribution but it was the other way round.
The Lancer started the season but the short wheelbase and balance never worked. The team missed 2 or 3 rounds mid season then returned with much of the Lancer running gear being transferred to the Galant. Despite being lastbor thereabouts for most of the rest of the year, it only started to show any sort of promise in the last 2 rounds.
