flatlandsman has been held in scrutiny for further testing
Great in LMP but woeful issues in GT Pro, GTD is still close ish, but to be fair so far a fairly dull race, some close stuff of course and the odd battle, but the GTD Pro was hoped to be close but BoP and issues have really made it fairly boring to watch

Care to elaborate? We have three wins for Meyer Shank (at least one dodgy) versus zero wins for Wayne Taylor Racing in the 2023 season.

Red Bull Racing win because they always push every rule to the limit, lol. This helps Honda Racing Corporation win in turn.

Winning in IMSA is just as important for Honda Performance Development now Honda Racing Corporation USA as winning in Formula One.

I don't think there is anything dodgy on the Porsche 963s that keep triggering the over-energy penalty, probably just a wiring or programming fault hence why it is the same cars triggering it over and over again... but there sure are rumours about "the Penske way" and the Penske way is more than a little famous.

I don't think HRC will be pleased on needing to rely on a "hail Mary" of #7 and #31 crashing into each other or an entertainment control vehicle (pace car)...

belt driven has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Hinchcliffe was talking to Keating this morning. He said P2 has stickier tires and more downforce GTP. I was surprised.

The Cadillac keeps leaving pitlane on ICE power and not Hybrid power? Is that allowed? If so, why do teams keep on using the hybrid system to leave the box over the ICE?

These are the average of the Top 50,100, or 150.
It'll be the way the average works. For the top 50 (if the laps were distributed linearly) you would expect only 25 laps to be faster than that time.

Actually only 19 were faster than that time, but because it is more of a distribution the ones above are quite close to the average.

I've not explained that well, but the chart shows this. The chart flattens out.

FYI, here are the top 50 laps of teh 01 and when they occurred:

Good question, I know it is typically done on electric power but don't know if it is a requirement.

Interesting.
RLM suggests you get more wheelspin with ICE.

I think the answer of why you use BEV would be it is good for the clutch and you don't need to use a starter.

I also recall that it might be a rule you have to use BEV to pull away in WEC? Or maybe that was a previous rule set.

On commentary they speculated that it's a way of generating heat by spinning the tyres. For what it's worth, the #31 has at least looked faster than any of the Porsches on its outlap.

GTD has settled down - been some nice battles through the night and into the morning.
GTDPRO has big gaps due to the recent problems. Then we've had natural spread due to the long greens.

The BMW has 3 laps over the 4th place - should be OK, but it's mechanicals has lost it 3 laps. Actual endurance race here!

Yes the Merc has a gap at the front but then nothing between a handful of cars for the rest of the podium

For the last pit, go with a set of used tires. Takes less time to get to grip.

They will be thinking about that. Depends how close it is to the end.
If close don’t change at all, they are already warm.

All the top cars are about 60% through their penultimate stint.

It may be just me but I think that Porsche made a mistake by staying out on track for 3 more laps vs the 31. When you're in a battle against a slightly faster car, I don't think you want to be on cold tires while your competitor has tires already up to temperature.

Less energy to put in at the last stop. I think they are fine on strategy.

Probably but who knows, I wouldn't expect Nasr to drive in eco mode now
Track position or tire temps could be key for the last stop. Which do you chose…

They might have to gamble on that again to at least get ahead?

True but will it be enough to jump the 31 in the pits?
Oh dear, Lexus on fire! That might play into Porsche's hands due to shorter refueling for the 7 potentially.

It's in the pit exit, it can be pushed away with a closed pit lane only.

Calling the Entertainment Control Vehicle is suss for sure. Welcome for the show, but suss.

Convenient! Good for Acura!

But it is pretty suss, no? The recovery pickup is already angled to pull the car into the paddock without needing to go anywhere near the actual race track.

Was hoping they could stay green but understand throwing a caution for a car potentially blocking the pit exit
