This is a shot of the winning Monaro frmo the Bathurst 24hr in 2004. Im not particularly a holden/monaro fan, but i thought the Monaro, holden sign, monaro flag and the background of the city of Bathurst worked pretty well
here is a link the full size version of it: http://images4.fotki.com/v46/free/81...MG_4361-or.jpg |

The link to the full size pic doesn't work for me. Shame, because it's a very nice pic, IMO. (Although, despite the obvious relevance, I'd have liked to see the flag just a tad smaller...... )

Hi jon
Yep all taken with Canon 1d/10d during last years BTCC season. Mainly using 100-400 with 1.4 convertor at times. Been filling my time since the new year with Motocorss.. these guys are mad.. Chris |

Had to be Canon! I have the D30 but will move up at end of the season once the price has come down a bit. The 100-400 was ordered last night, so I am just itching as the 200 with x 1.4 is just a little bit slow at times...as to Motocross, MAD but not as mad as World Superbikes...
Nice shots of F1 at Silverstone, will take a better look at them all tomorrow night as I have just been reminded I need to be in Manchester tonight!!!! Jon |

Heres one I took at the BTCC open day at Donington. It was took from the pitwall as the car drove past. The image is as it would be high resolution - I haven't cropped the image in anyway (only made is smaller)

some nice clear shots there jpm
I'd guess that your panning with shutter speeds of about 1/250 to 1/500, maybe you could experiment with slower shutter speeds to create even more impression of speed? Which circuit are the DTM/F3 ones at? I like the Larbre Viper shot - one of my favourite spots at Le Mans - I think it also looks good cropped vertically: |

thanks gi_gav
they were taken in Hockenheim. Yes, shutter speeds between 1/250 and 1/350, but I´m still a beginner and hope to improve the results this year with longer shutter speeds. |

With slower panning shots, expect to get a lot that don't turn out - keep at it 'cause the results are great when they work, and you're already off to a good start.

I like this one because of the angle...
http://www.racingfanatics.com/MS04ALMSSebring3106.jpg and this one because of the thought process it invokes in my mind... http://www.racingfanatics.com/MS04ALMSSebring2798.jpg Martin |

The night shot is terrific. At first you might think, shame there wasn't just a little more exposure of the car, then you realise the shot doesn't need it at all. If I could get just one similar at La Sarthe this June, I'd be happy. (Two and I'd be delirious.... )

I shot 2 rolls of film at Le Mans during the night when Mercedes won (1989 I think) and Fuji went and lost them both and I never saw them again! Learnt a good lesson then by never sending E6 off to a lab I didin't know locally. Things of the past now though....film!!!
