Yeah, the ambition is certainly there.
It's been talked about on and off ever since the Touring Car Challenge fell over, about 10 years ago. |

There seem to be quite a few active in NZ now- We've had a few NZ-based cars come over to the UK for the Silverstone Classic in the last couple of years, and a couple of UK cars have apparently been sold to NZ owners recently

The 1993 changes to the M3's for the ATCC seem to be an updated aero-kit, more weight and a rev-limiter. |

You mention the Melinda Price Seca was campaigned as late as 96. Do you have any recollection by who and at what meetings. Do you also remember where it was advertised for sale?

I recall seing it advertised in Auto Action, in the late '90s. Nobody seems to know where it, or the sister car are. However, I believe one of them was ratted for parts to build the first Hyundai Lantra Super Tourer. |

Colin Bond played a part in the first car's construction, hence many of the Corolla parts being carried over. However, I believe they were done by Steve Hardman Motorsport, who prepared the cars until the end of '95.

Obviously CAMS just wanted them to pad out the grid.... but considering that BMW fronted for 1993 with more official works cars than Ford or Holden, to treat them the way they were was disgraceful (not to mention they'd just run Nissan out of the sport too) Quote:

The E36 BMW was an Ex Vic Lee Racing (Soper & Harvey) and had no spoilers from memory and ran in the Listerine colors (Adelaide GP I think)
BMW were really shafted by CAMS over the journey whether it be 635csi or 318 Turbo but especailly the M3 EVO II running weight and no DTM electronic aero or bonnet splitters |

One could argue that Nissan and BMW did not exercise sufficient lobbying ("inducements" as they would say in FIFA circles) to ensure CAMS selected the successful British 2L regulations exclusively for the ATCC.

One of few cars, where the restoration unlocked it's potential.

I love how historic Group A has to preserve all the dodgy homologation shenanigans that went on, and now all the facts are actually coming out.. Like the fact the 240T was never legally homologated in the first place!

Only between 23 and 30 Evolution models of the 240T were built and none were sold as road cars.
Basically FISA inspected the front row of cars sitting on the docks in the US, there were 497 cars there, all the rows behind had the hot parts in the boot. It has been pretty well known since the 90s but with the rise of historic cars more stories are coming out like Nissan's boost control and so on. |

If the hot parts were to be installed, does this render them part of the numbers built?
I've often wondered if the array of conspicuous switches fitted to the Nissans are still in operation today in historic racing. Of course the answer will be "no" |
