Will the new GTE be based on the DB11? I thought that was the plan?

AMR team principal John Gaw confirmed plans for Aston Martin to roll out with all new race cars, built around the road-going successor to the Vantage, in 2018. http://sportscar365.com/other-series...w-car-in-2018/ |

I remember that. The new DB11 is a nice looking car, hope the new Vantage is a step up. The engine is said to be the TT V8 from Mercedes.

Wish it would come earlier than 2018, this year would've been good. The Vantage is antique ... not even GTS-R's and 993 GT2's have been around for so long, especially when you count in the street cars.

Look how much room there's between engine and front of the car.... basically is placed over the driver legs like in dtm cars. Slightly more extreme than C7R

'What is Aston Martin NOT up to?' would be a better name for this thread.
Submarine, anyone? http://www.astonmartin.com/en/project-neptune Plus F1 with Red Bull, new GT3 and GT4 cars coming, and maybe whatever replaces LMP1... http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/t...rototype-regs/ |

Aston Martin could arrive in the DTM for the 2020 season with a customer racing programme including a Honda engine and with Red Bull sponsorship.

Makes sense because Honda already has the engine running in the NSX. Would require a rework of the cooling layout since it will be FR instead of MR.

This article about the factory team converting the new GT3 to GTE spec in about 5 hours made me smile.

I think Risi bought a GT3 for LM17 and the GTE kit, and had both shipped to LM to build the car themselves on site. Sadly I think the guy who bought them the GT3 car ended up with a bag of bolts and twisted sheet metal with some assembly required after the race. But if you want the racing pedigree you take the risks of racing.

£550k!?!? Why’s it £200k more expensive than an Audi?
