2013 Nascar Silly Season

This will be my final post in THIS thread because really, 2014 is getting closer and closer, so hopefully someone will start up a 2014 silly season rumor thread soon. What do I have?

UPDATE: Martin Truex Jr. has agreed to drive the #78 Furniture Row Chevrolet in 2014. Sources say the parties came to terms on Wednesday night. A formal announcement is expected next Tuesday. In his eighth year as a full-time Sprint Cup driver, Truex has spent the past four seasons driving the #56 NAPA Toyota for Michael Waltrip Racing. However, MWRs manipulation of the outcome of the Sept. 7 race at Richmond International Raceway and subsequent sanctions from NASCAR resulted in Truexs disqualification from the Chase for the Sprint Cup and NAPAs decision to part ways with the organization at the end of the season.(A HREF="http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/story/martin-truex-jr-agrees-join-furniture-row-racing-team-2014-leaves-michael-waltrip-racing-101613">Fox Sports)(10-17-2013)

Ragan, Gilliland returning to Front Row: Front Row Motorsports will build off another season of significant growth and new team records in 2013 - one that included the team's first win - with the return of drivers #34-David Ragan and #38-David Gilliland in 2014. "This has been a milestone year for us, and we're extremely happy that two of the guys who helped get us here will be back next year," said team owner Bob Jenkins. "We're improving our race program, attracting more sponsors and setting and achieving higher and higher goals each year. Having David and David, our one-two punch, back in those cars next year is central to continuing our growth and improvement." The 2014 season will be Front Row Motorsports' fifth year teaming with Gilliland and its third with Ragan. The 27-year-old Ragan will return to the cockpit of the #34 entry and the 37-year-old Gilliland will once again pilot the #38. In addition to achieving new heights on track, Front Row Motorsports is also enjoying a successful season of new sponsorship partners working with the team in 2013  relationships that are not only expected to return in 2014 but expand. Elliotts and Hendrick meet with NAPA? hearing earlier this week that Chase and Bill Elliott, Rick Hendrick and Kelley Earnhardt Miller met with officials at the NAPA Auo Parts headquarters in Atlanta. No definite word on what the meeting was about. Chase Elliott, a Hendrick Motorsports development driver, is looking for a sponsor for whatever series he may run in 2014. His former sponsor, Aaron's, decided not to sponsor Elliott in 2014 and ramp up their sponsorship of Brian Vickers in the #55 Michael Waltrip Racing Sprint Cup Series team for all the races in 2014 & 2015. NAPA Auto Parts had been a long time sponsor of Waltrip and his #56 team with soon to be former driver Martin Truex Jr. NAPA canceled their sponsorship of the #56 team and MWR after the "Richmond Scandal" in September. It'll be interesting to see what NAPA may do as rumors had them not returning to sponsor any NASCAR team in 2014 and sitting out the season and then rethinking their sponsorship plans. Have heard reports that NAPA did not want to sponsor a team in the Nationwide Series or Camping World Truck Series. Have heard that NAPA does not wish take over for Nationwide as the series sponsor what is now called the Nationwide Series when Nationwide leaves at the end of the 2014 season. Been told that NAPA only wants to sponsor a Sprint Cup Series team for a full season. Rumors also had NAPA moving over to the #78 Furniture Row Racing team with Martin Truex Jr. in some capacity.(11-15-2013)

Yep

I prefer to see them joining #78 than Hendrick or any other major team.

JTG Daugherty forms technical alliance with RCR: JTG Daugherty Racing team officials announced a technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing that will include receiving ECR Engines and engineering services during the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season with driver AJ Allmendinger behind the wheel of the #47 entry. "We certainly appreciate all the support that TRD (Toyota Racing Development) has provided to JTG Daugherty Racing for five years and we are great fans of their business model," JTG Daugherty Racing co-owner Tad Geschickter said. "As a single-car team, we feel that aligning directly with a successful multi-car organization like Richard Childress Racing is what will work best for us in 2014." After nearly 15 years of success in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, JTG Daugherty Racing ventured into the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with driver Marcos Ambrose at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July of 2008. Ambrose went on to score the team's career-best finish with second-place at Watkins Glen International on August 10, 2009. 2000 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Bobby Labonte took the reins in 2011 and delivered his best finish with the team at Daytona International Speedway on February, 20, 2011 when he crossed the finish line in fourth-place. This season AJ Allmendinger has earned the team's best finish of the season (10th-place) at Watkins Glen International in August and will be behind the wheel of the #47 full-time starting in 2014.(JTG Daughterty Racing)(11-25-2013)

Certainly most Australian V8Supercar teams seem to blood their key people in their customer programs before bringing them back to the family....
