Interesting that some drivers are obliged to do the Spa round and miss the FE race. |

Looks like Ganassi racing is making this year it's last with Cadillac.

Motorsport.com saying the WEC will enforce a minimum/maximum 2 factory hypercars starting next year!
Theres pluses and minuses for that. Biggest minus imo would be limited private teams like Isotta. But if they expand the grid to 41 or 42 cars, that problem goes away. Biggest plus is you have a more even championship and Cadillac, Aston Martin are forced to show up proper if they want in. |

Not to mention, new manufacturers will be able to have a proper 2-car team, and still have independent teams. An up to 40 team field is quite acceptable for the majority of the season, given the number GT3s that will appear, including Le Mans. If anything, combining the two as present will insure up to 50+ fields, in certain circumstances.

Does anyone actually have a true 3 car WEC factory effort? By that I mean without the fingers crossed no that other 499 is so not a factory car see, it's yellow not red.

It can't be a factory car on paper per rules due to 2 car per manufacturer limit. But practically it's a 100% factory effort.

It's the actual privateers like Jota and Proton that'd be caught out. Motorsport.com did some counting of expected entries, and found there would only be two spots for privateers, whereas there are currently four privateers, including the third works Ferrari. That's a really stupid issue to give yourself, and seems to be a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. |

I think McLaren's and Ford's GT cars are more in danger. No hypercar, no GT entries

They could solve this by having a bigger grid than 40. 42 or 43 cars would have everyone currently and the extra 4 cars from Cadillac, Lamborghini and Aston Martin.

I think a lot of this is also due to venue space, more of a problem in IMSA than WEC, but certain venues have less circuit space for garages etc, especially some of the Middle East ones. Somewhere like Spa or Silverstone has tons of it, but others have less, logistics is a big deal in series like this.

Seems a bit aggressive if Dallara and Caddy could both shown it was poor build not performance, nothing like needing additional equipment to 3d scan a car to find a violation to "save costs"

Still a technical violation is a technical violation, usually the penalty is DSQ or some other serious one like we had many examples in the past. Belle Isle and AXR's Caddy less than 2 kg underweight, Silverstone and Toyota running too low, Watkins Glen and Porsche too low, etc.

Can't believe this standard procedure to scan a cars bodywork to see if a few pieces are out of whack? tough break for the team, they better check all their spares to see what the range of conditions are.

Was this not also an issue with a car at Sebring? And was made a part for the car earlier in the day so it could race?

No, I am not against booting cheats, I would have preferred MSR booted from the series for the nonsense last year cause that wasn't a little issue. But for a deficiency that can be verified as Friday afternoon build at Dallara strikes me as fine or yellow card like strike. And would require open disclosure of yes, this is was found, this is the documentation of issue and supplier comment. And the next time, yup that's paddling time Jasper Last edited by broadrun96; 29 Mar 2024 at 13:28. |

Probably a different car. It was a manufacturing / quality control issue so could be just one part. And anyway, do IMSA 3D scan the cars? I’m guessing not for the cost reasons broadrun96 brings up. |
