Not gonna turn this into a history course but M-B was actually on course to join the ALMS in '99 post LM (dig into John Brooks' archives for "confirmation"). Of course, all of that got swept under the rug after their airshows.

But you're probably right, those cars could have been a real disaster at Road Atlanta - but with their speed also a sight to behold like never before!!

Ah, thanks guys.

Also, Vautier raced the Benz last season full time in Blancpain so knows the car really well (and might have been suggested by AMG or Bleekemolen?).

The Mercedes situation was not totally their fault. Partial blame goes towards the rules of the time. A blow over today is a lot less likely with the fender holes and ugly fins.

In the future it might be a good idea to read followup posts before posting snarky comments.

And a few bad calls does not change the fact that most of my information has been either spot on or not terribly far off, but we don't need to get into an argument over this stuff.

Lexus has finalized their driver lineup with Hawksworth and Alon. Pretty decent set with Pretty and Karem. Hard to pick an "AM" out of the bunch, but.....who says the ratings system is broken!

disappointing how? As in one entry less?

Hope Rayhall gets picked up by a prototype team, he might end up with Starworks since they need a replacement for vdZ.

Disappointing because no sendoff for the only true "Prototype" the series had.

Understandable because the development cost to make it competitive in that final appearance wouldn't be worth it.
