Hinch apparently has Genesys on board for an Indy run but no mention of funding amount and claims made of Honda team being sought out but that's it.
I would guess it limits him to running with Ganassi (not likely but possible) Coyne (money talks there) or RLL (money talks but BIG pile needed) in order to run a Honda now |

That was an unusual announcement (and premature IMHO, although if the goal is to create buzz ASAP, then earlier is better I suppose). Still, strange that no team is mentioned. I think the implication was both May races (Indy GP and 500), but we'll see I guess. One thing that puzzles me - it was previously reported that Hinch's Honda contract was roughly half what would be required for a full IndyCar season. So why did he need additional sponsorship just to run two races? Or is his Honda deal dead? I'd understood it was a personal deal, nothing to do with SPM/Arrow Mclaren SP and their jump to Chevy, so presumably would still be in play? And, if dead, then the new Genesys money could... what? Pay for rides in May at any team, Honda or not? I guess we'll just have to wait and see. |

Maybe Honda Canada wouldn’t be happy to see their full season sponsorship spunked on just two races?

I have a feeling the previous Honda deal is dead, or on life support without a team AND money to cover the rest of the season. Or at the very least something including Toronto as well as Indy x2.

Alonso and McLaren's partnership is officially over, so he will not be driving for them at this year's 500.

It's no bad thing for Fred. McLaren didn't really properly prepare for the 500 last year. So hopefully he will do better with someone like Andretti

He’s not bringing money! He wants paying... he also wants space in the car for his brand.

Because that’s not how he works.
He wants basic pay. He wants all his expenses. He wants space on the car for his Kimoa brand. He wants a share of the prize money. If that is $2m but Michael can find $2.5m sponsorship, then it will happen. |

For those of you who don't follow IMSA, Scott Dixon won his third overall 24 Hours of Daytona, for Wayne Taylor Racing, in a Cadillac DPi-V.R. He won it previously with Chip Ganassi Racing in 2006 and 2015.

TK gets his send off lap around the ovals this season with Foyt. ABC Supply is Indy only deal so he's bringing 7/11, Bryant Heating and Cooling and Big Machine vodka for the other races. Guess he'll be done after his last laps at Gateway. Hopefully he's still running at the end and gets to lap last win or not.

It will be interesting to see if Bourdais does get the nod for the road course/street races. |

I have a feeling the delay in announcing who is to give him a chance to find some funds. I have no idea how much money Kellet can bring though, I'm guessing not enough to fully fund them or it would have been announced

I wouldn't say that. Like all of us, age catches up. He's 45 now and the oldest driver in the series. Fontana 2014 was his last win and since then he's got on the podium at least once per season, except for 2018.
Overall he's got a good driving record. He won the IndyCar driver's championship in 2004, was runner up in 2005 and was 3rd in 2007 and 8. He won the Indy 500 in 2013 and the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2015. He's got a far better driving record than say Marco Andretti, who I presume is there because of the Andretti name, which brings the money. |

Ouch, it seems like Honda is still nursing a grudge to this day. They vetoed Alonso running with Andretti in 2020.
https://racer.com/2020/02/02/honda-v...indy-500-deal/ Interesting thought, IF Andretti was considering a car for Alonso and had everything lined up until Honda Japan said no, do they have the car available? There's a certain Honda Canada driver without a ride and with some sponsor money out there. It could solve 2 problems BUT what does his contact say about that? He supposedly gets paid if he doesn't run, if he runs how much will it cost him? Hopefully no penalty just not getting that SPAM paycheck. Most drivers would pay to drive over sit and get paid.
