Technically a new team, but delve deeper and you'll see experience like no other team on the track. Don't be lulled into a false sense of security.

My money would be on Mr Booth. If I ever put money on things, which I don't. But that's not to say that I don't want the Caltex boys to take it down to the wire!

It was a while ago, but some memories are built to last. Every time I look at my Russell Ingall overalls, I am reminded of the time he braked going into the hairpin so hard I prayed my harness was made to withstand the full force of buxom women!

Let me say, being strapped into an ill fitting APC 3 point harness around the 'ol fella's, I feel your pain, Margaret.

Hot off the press - I know it's not V8TC but nevertheless is related to something we were talking about earlier in this thread...

Gotta love the aussies.. they don't pull any punches, do they. But you have to agree... if we can't sort ourselves out to get a 3 day race happening in Auckland in the same week as ANZAC Day AND school holidays (when half the working population are on their holidays) then we deserve to lose the race. It's just another reason not to live on the Shore and eat cereal!

It needs to be a street race.. take it to the punters... make a spectacle that people want and love (or grow to love). Name me a top-notch, internationally worthy venue in NZ.. just one...

You obviously do not know of the ongoing work that the circuits undertake every year.
It is a hard scenario, without the races the circuits have nothing to promote, without the circuits the drivers have no where to race - catch 22. SO what you are saying is that you back the circuits when it suits you to race, but you would much rather see a street race happen rather than it being held on a permanent venue which would be upgraded to a high standard, which would then benefit all NZ drivers. Been down this track before though, and no one has realised until now, that at the threat of loosing the race, they all start to back the NZ circuits when it is too late............... |

I think to be honest that TC is probably blustering a bit on this one - they might have Singapore and Dubai fighting to get a round, but you won't get 200,000 Arabs showing up to a V8SC race. Good TV exposure, sure, (for those in the right time zone) but for ticket sales you can't beat a street race. What I'd really like to see is the demolition of the entire oil tank farm area in Auckland and that being turned into a permanent circuit - that would keep everybody happy! Except our mates in Palmy I suppose...

What I am saying is that the circuits are old, tired and worn out. I mean no disrespect to the many people who work hard to keep them operating and give their time to make the V8 series as successful as it is. But I don't know of anyone who is drawn to any facility for anything other than watching the racing. You may think that's a silly observation, but think of the added enjoyment for all if the viewing areas, concessions, toilets, accessibility, parking, pits and hospitality were all just a little bit more inviting. There is nothing quite like sliding on your backside down a mudbank, or overflowing loos to put you off a day out at the racing...

I would be quite happy with that, sure I would love Manfeild to get a round, but I would go to where ever the v8's go to. AND, if it meant that Manfeild would get a second round (although it seems that MSNZ is the problem there??), I would say go for it to any group that can get a track up and running to TC's standards. |

As for Manfeild, sorry guys, but your facilities are not very good. I was shocked at the state of the spectator facilities. I am also not sure where you could sit everyone even with temporary grandstands if you got the V8's. |

Have to agree with you Evomike, the Manfeild spectator facilities are pretty poor, if its wet its an absolute nightmare!
