Barry Pomfret should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
There is an article about the Longridge circuit in this months 750 MC Bulletin, as previously mentioned by Andrew this confirms that it is now a caravan site.( I also noticed in the new member lists that a certain Mark Webber from Milton Keynes has joined the club, perhaps we will see him out in a few Formula Vee races Jaguar contract permitting, and yes the F1 driver does live in MK)

An earlier posting by Diz suggests that Ian Stronach had a Kincraft not as I stated a Mcrae I have since found that it was in fact a Mcrae Chassis No.014 Now sold to Ken Petrie in the states. Source - old racing cars .com

Steve O'Brien should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi all thanks for the memories I too grew up at Aintree I used to go there with my father Harry O'Brien in the 60's when he was racing someone mentioned the cortina v8 he owned that that when he and John Scott-Davies were in partnership they also had the Chevron B5 BRM V8 at the same time, and yes they did used to drive the Cortina to the track on trade plates I went in it a few times as there garage was only a couple of minutes from the track I can still hear it now.

Aintree now!

The Sprint Paddock on Sefton Straight (2007)

The Start area from Country Corner

Country Corner (2006)

Village Corner (1995)

The Club Circuit is still very much in use. Liverpool Motor Club run three sprints and two track days whilst there are six motorbike race meetings a year. This year LMC will be running a round of the Greenpower Electric Car Racing series.

Many happy memories of the old place.
Gerry. I have a lovely pic of me leaving the paddock in the old Swish Anglia.

I remember Kim racing the BRM (I was a marshall then) and collecting a slower car when going into the last corner, had a piece of the alloy wheel rim for many years!. Don't know the history of the BRM though!.

In one of the earlier pics is that the Doug Niven or Walter Robertson DFVW with Jeff Wilson's (he latterly of Grange and BMW M1-GA) name on the side?

I have a plea to you Aintree old-timers. Does anyone recall the Vincent family (of Cranberry Lodge Garage, Wigan) who ran a Chevron B19 at Aintree in 1972?

The only result I have for it is a NSCC meeting on Whit Monday 28 May 1972 when one of the Vincents (MN and AS disagree over who it was) won the sports car class of the libre race. I'd have thought it would have been one of the newest cars in the paddock at that time.

The Vincents also had a Brabham BT30 about the same time.

Can't help with the Vincents, but it at least gives me an excuse to post these.

Our old tub during a Test Day about 20 years ago. Hopefully the car will be running again later this year and will be out for another Aintree Track Day
