Once again, the FIA and stewards don't help the situation with how they worded it. Shouldn't have introduced that doubt with the consistency statement. If he's broken a rule then just say that - don't be all like "well, others got a penalty..so I guess he should!"
Consistency in F1 stewarding!

That's just a bad joke!

It might have been a different story if Vettee hadn't got that penalty but I think we all knew Lulu would get pole.

Great drive by Kimi, for 2nd slot, with Danny Ric 4th and Ocon is 6th. Should be an interesting start.

Kimi got 3rd slot and a promotion to 2nd slot, not 2nd slot off his own efforts.

He briefly had pole. However, Vettel had the grid penalty and Kimi will have known that. So fair play to him I say, he knew what he had to do to get 2nd slot.

More consistency from the stewards:

http://classic.autosport.com/news/re...ce=mostpopular

"They deemed both drivers had exceeded the specified maximum time between safety car lines, but accepted neither had driven "unnecessarily slowly or in a manner to adversely affect any other driver"."

Wouldn't want this to happen now would we?

"A grid penalty for Bottas would have elevated his team-mate Lewis Hamilton's championship rival Sebastian Vettel to fourth on the grid ahead of Sunday's potentially title-deciding grand prix. "

Well actually with the Vettel grid penalty there WAS consistency, so the question is, have drivers been penilised with a grid drop for the same situation and infringement as Bottas made in qualifying?

Different situation though. In Austria Vettel actually impeded Sainz in his fast lap. It appears that Bottas didn’t this time, just drove too slowly back to the pits. If that’s the case then the 3 place grid drop to Vettel was fair as it was a more serious case than simply driving back slowly earning bottas a slap on the wrist

Perez is on record saying he was not impeded, and he would know.

Ferrari set the pace in third practice, yet still end up behind Lewis. Seems they need to pull their finger out. Max well down in 13th, expect fireworks from him

Blummin tight tho isn’t it! Race is shaping up to be very interesting. I expect kimi to be leading into turn 1, then it’s all to play for if he can back Hamilton up....assuming it’s all clean

Yet more inconsistencies. They should have consistently favoured Ferrari. Or perhaps it is consistent as they appear to favour the team at the top. Anyway outrage or something.

I not sure that Kimi has gained a place off the start this season, so no reason he shouldn't gain one against Lewis then!

I dont think Kimi has gained a spot on the first lap since Abu Dhabi 2016. Hopefully this is the race he does make a first lap pass. And make it stick.

GregUK should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
When is Parc Ferme not a Parc Ferme?

It seems you can run a super-duper new water pump in qualy, but, if it develops a leak, it can be changed in Parc Ferme.
