and at the same time its a spec series. Its like the stories of Mclaren rebuilding Heidfeld's F3000 car. They cant do anything to it other teams cant except tighten the bolts a little better.

Thank you. Apart from Bella and Mr Jinxx trying it on with one another as ever and the re-recycling of such garbage as 'did McLaren build Hamilton's Formula Renault?' (utter garbage and if anyone truly believes it then maybe they'd like to nip into Manor's awning and put the suggestion to John Booth), perhaps someone could quickly re-cap on actual teams and their drivers so far ...

Doesn't Mark M tend to fade a bit during the season, started strongly last year and seemed to tail off mid-season. Also remember him at Motaworld (2001) almost taking breeze (his teammate) off at Oulton with a move that was never on.....
As for Conway, can't see him as a title challenger another sporadic performer. With Hamilton and Lloyd as the most likely title protagonists, the one who makes less mistakes and takes evey scoring opportunity will win the series. |

I don't think Mark M will do a 4th year of FRS. If he can raise the cash he'll probably do something like F Nissan or even the WS, but then most drivers I know seem to want to do the WS - they'll need a 50 car grid!! ;-)

I haven't heard anything about Carl Breeze, I guess the whole Breeze family are still getting over the death of Carl's sister. They are a really tight knit family unit and Sarah's death will have knocked them for six.
Carl may link up with VLR again in the BTCC, but nothing has been mentioned in the press. |

Looking at those line-ups Hamilton is going to walk it!Only Lloyd and Bell can get near him and they better let their intentions be known from race one.If they let him win 4 or 5 races on the trot - no chance.Rattle him from the off and don't back-out of even half a chance!

Carl is still in talks with VLR but he wants to do Touring cars again. We wondered how Sarahs death might affect decisions but as she was so behind him, they are all the more determined to go for it. Still gonna be hard though.

My understanding is that they are a very close family, and this is a dreadful awful thing to happen for them, and Carl is currently considering his future.

I'm not certain at Bell's age, and without some substantial backing, that another year of UK Formula Renault would stand him in the best stead.
The talk is that Firstair are looking seriously at the Florida Fran-Am championship next year, and whilst the organisation may have floundered a little in this winter series, I bet it picks up big time if there are some top drivers like Robert Bell in it next summer - it will raise its profile for sure. My guess is that Bell won't be in UK FR, but it is only a wild guess. I still await Fortec's line up with interest. I cannot see how they can lose a team principal, and head for the 2003 series with Conway and maybe Rossiter, who can both be quick, but no proven title challenger. No big hitter. Who will it be?? |

Any news on any of the 'lesser'/new teams, such as Paston, Eurotek, Saxon, Hillspeed and Jensen etc. etc?

I know what he's got planned but can't say!
However it will involve driving a Formual Renault car for a very good team, that he has driven for before. Last edited by El_Gibleto; 4 Feb 2003 at 05:54. |

Quite a few folk are testing at Guadix in southern Spain at the moment, but I hadn't heard if Gary was there - I don't think so.
