Remember to post photos. I usually am in such a hurry to get started tht I don't take any pictures until I'm about half finished! And please keep looking for that picture of the car with stock group c bodywork as I would like to build that car too.

While the body is off at Automodelli getting a perfect clearcoat job, I thought I'de throw another Rothmans car at you. This is the 1982 LeMans winng Ickx/Bell car. this was the last time the race was won with only two drivers. Not only was it a 1, 2, 3 sweep for the Stuttgart equippe, but they finished in numerical order, 1, 2, 3. That was the only time that feat was accomplished until Peugeot did it in 1992.

You can see the color scheme was a little different with the band around the cockpit. i think this was the most attractive rothmans scheme, but sadly 1982 was the only year they used it.

Just to muddy the waters even more, here is Nicolas watts fine print of the 1982 race. It is very nice, but Mulsanne Express is the most beautiful paionting I have ever seen. Still, this one is good.

And here she is with the 1986 LeMans winning Rothmans 962. Both were driven by Stuck/Bell/holbert. Together, Bell and Holbert won both Daytonas and LeMans in 86 and 87. And Bell also won the 1986 sebring with Stuck. Bell and Stuck took the c0-world championship in 1985 and Bell was champion in 86. Somewhere in there (86, i think) Holbert won the IMSA championship.

It was the last world championship round victory for all three of them. It wasn't long before Al holbert was sadly lost to us. The Rothmans Porsche team closed shop and Stuck/Bell were set adrift, never to land this sort of plum drive again.

And it was one of the last victories for the 962 as well. LeMans 87 was truely the end of an era.

Thanks to my buddy Marty who acquired the kits for me and to bob Davault who turned out another pair of flawless clear coat jobs. And thanks to racingpilot.com for making me a really good deal on the print.

Wow Austin! Those cars are beautiful!

After having forumla cars shoved down my throat by the media for the last 10 years, I'm now seeing that Sportscars are the most beautiful cars out there!
