My mate has promised to wear his new wet weather gear he bought last year. I had a sidewall puncture Friday evening last year, so whilst getting that sorted in La Flèche Saturday morning (whilst it was peeing down) he bought new gear. Consequently by the time we got to the campsite to pick the others up and head in it was lovely and sunny....

I used my wet weather stuff only on raceday last year, and that was for the brief interval of mild moisture in the morning and overnight for a while for a little extra insulation.

A little rain in the PM to spice things up - albeit still nice and warm. I'd take that race week forecast right now. Shame it's showing up as that now. Don't want to peak too soon.

Well, I've been to Le Mans 27 times, and I reckon I've only been seriously shafted by the weather 2-3 times. OK, odd light showers from time to time, but only a couple of real downpours and one race which was pretty wet from start to finish.

Midweek Motorsport are pointing out that the forecast for this Sunday is pretty filthy, and that this doesn't bode hugely well for those needing to complete their rookie laps. Any feeling for any drivers who might be particularly at risk here?
By same token, if we do get the race enlivening showers does a wet test day get more relevant, and do changeable conditions play into hands of Audi or Toyota? |
