This is from memory and with guesstimates at heat placings for progression, but the basic way it works is:
The last few cars from each of Saturday's heat (16th+ at a guess) have another chance to race first thing on Sunday. The top few of these then join the back of a grid of those finishing next lowest in heats (say 11th-15th). The winners of that join the backs of the grids for the semi-finals with the top several cars from each heat (1st-10th?). The top half of each of semi go into the final. This means that if a driver has an off/accident/mechanical in the heat they can still work through to the final. Not sure how the "historic" final is going to work into this, but it's good to see that decent drivers in older cars will get to compete for something. |

My understanding is that any driver in a pre '82 car that qualifies from the semis for the main final races in that. As many people '82 cars that haven't qualified for the main final compete in the historic race. There is no progression from the historic final to the main one.

I hope to go with some friends to the WHT on Sunday. We were throughly impressed when we went last year, but I do hope that it isn't as cold!

Is anything actually going on at Silverstone today? Saw racing was delayed until midday at the earliest due to the rain/snow.
Edit: Ah, live timing has now decided to work, and yes, there is some racing is going on! Last edited by dank; 4 Nov 2012 at 15:40. |

We had a most enjoyable time doing the Allcomers Open Wheel race. I must say that in extremely difficult weather conditions on Sunday I thought the organisation team made all the right calls with everyone getting to race.
Excellent job! |

You can underestimate or overstate anything you like but quite honestly I believe the Walter Hayes Formula Ford Trophy event at Silverstone the best theatre for precise and crucial on-the-absolute-limit motor racing there is on this planet. I am sure NO other country has such quality racing....Apart from the fact that this year it was won by an AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!....................................................!!
The best of luck to him and hope he goes far, young Tristan. Thanks indeed to JEB and to HSCC for making it happen. The Best motor racing in the world. |

Thank You James & HSCC for a FANTASTIC Walter Hayes Trophy, even with the trauma's of the weather it all went off extremely well - it was a pleasure to be part of & watch.
On a personal level i had the opportunity to drive my Reynard 88FF which i finished on Thursday morning at 3am - and what a fantastic place to do it. I didn't realise that an FF could be so predictable & fun to drive - very different to my normal rides - need to learn how to drive such a car in the wet tho'. Thank you to the many people who helped me during the weekend with a very new car. One thing that could do with addressing & this is directed at Silverstone Circuits - Please put tannoy's in the garages as well as the paddock - then we will know when we have been called - especially if things have been delayed, as they were. Look forward to next year. Chris |
