The one thing that I have trouble understanding, (and I know EVERYONE says it's only three rounds) is how it can be a good thing to have the coverage supposedly broken up during the day (race 2 early, race 3 after the footy) or over by 1:30pm.

Hardly what I would call the "prime viewing" times. Have we not (others) argued on here that there are too long a breaks between rounds, surely breaking the day up is even worse!

What time is the Seven evening news? 6pm?

Maybe they'll start the AFL coverage about 3:30.

That means they'll probably show the second race (about 11am) on delay, then the third one live to finish before the footy.

Only problem is if there is a big delay and race three starts late.

"Sorry but we know there are only three laps to go but we cross now to the G for coverage of the Richmond/Carlton cross-country basketball..."

Pro Racer should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
this deal is a massive **** up, now i wish the V8's stayed with #10 and after how i have previously said #10 was crap now it makes me think #10's coverage will look like gold compared to what #7's is going to be, and i think #7 is going to do what they did last time and put them on at late night.

i can imagine V8 teams will lose sponsers if they are shown late and that will mean teams won't afford to keep running, could aussie bernies eyes with $ as oposed to pupels spell the end of V8's.

That kinda assumes Australian Production Cars can stop warring amongst themselves and actually race at the same meeting together. They're incapable of doing that now.

All these assumptions.

Before bagging them lets wait and see how it all settles down. werent some of the races supposed to be twilight ... and EC on the Monday of the Queens Birthday Weekend.

I mhavnt seen the AFL draw yet ... not that interested but would be good to compare it with the V8s. There might be some creative starting times for the races to fit in so everyone wins.

Its too early to bag Ch 7 out yet!!!

IMO

The V8s finish at 1.30, the meeting will still feature plenty of racing afterwards.

Alot of you lot are worrying too much of speculation, lets wait and see what 'actually' happens.

Plus of course remember the first two rounds fall before the AFL season, and we'll be getting full coverage of those two meetings to start with.

I've thought about that too. I think its impractical. People will soon enough complain that they can't keep up with the times.

its too early to bash 7 but with the first round being a few months away and no one still being able to say whats going on is a serious concern.

the papers only said they were talking to austar - not that a deal had been done.

Agree it is not a big deal, BUT, it would result in a better V8 coverage for those in the Austar area.

the fact that the schedule has to be moved to fit around afl is an issue.

its not good for the sport - we want more people to watch v8s but if the telly times are all over the place and not consistent it wont help.

if v8s have to be off air by 1pm on the weekends that clash it is a big step backwards for the sport.

why would they have to be off air at 1pm?

arent 10 or maybe Austar doing the early game and 7 the twilight game?

Its about time there was more cooperation between sports to maximise the exposure for everyone. I am sure, as been said so many times before, that there are more people wanting to watch AFL compared to the V8s. So it makes sense, if you want to watch more live coverage to move the taxis.

Or better still go and watch it live at the tracks ... thats where all motor racing should be watched ... the same as football.

It's not that easy unless you've got an endless money pit. I try to get to 4 to 5 rounds a year but that doesn't come cheap. For most people tv is their only option.
