Ladies and Gentlemen it has been great to read about the 24hr race in your forum..The Ring/Spa/Belcar/VdeV/Dutch Supercup and Britcar all run to the same regs...GT3,s to Minis in a classes.. there are around a 1000 acrs in Europe, last year 385 cars applied for 210 places at the Ring, the EERC understands the size of the problem and without 70 + cars the race would be a none event, but ask your friends who man Brands and they will tell you the Britcar format makes for entertaining racing...
I would like to thank the Marshals,by giving them back the Willhire, and because of money and numbers on grids is not possible at Snett, we need more cars to pay for it. Profile and advertiseing, plus returns for the circuit owners is important. Mr chigley says 4days, No it will 3 Fri/sat/sun with the cars collecting on the Thursday.... Brscc Norfolk(who,s race it was, the Brdc marshals club BARC Marshals who did a great job at Brands over the Bank Holiday with the americans, plus any of the other marshals clubs, should be free if Brands Hatch Circuits Ltd keep the circuit bookings down to none..... I look forward to the day we see the Willhire back... |

James, as Peter said - Welcome to the forum and thanks for taking the time to post.
With regds to the format of the Britcar event - I've only marshalled the one so far which was at Silverstone either late last year or earlier this year (it's all fading together again nurse....) and as I've mentioned earlier up this thread the race length felt about right for the entry I saw. My concern is whether it'd hold the interest for enough people to volunteer for 24hours worth. Getting all the marshal's clubs freed up on the day is definitely a good starting point as that means your pool of prospective volunteers is as big as possible. But that's still not a guarantee that everyone will want to be there - there needs to be sufficient evidence up front that the program/grid will be big enough & entertaining enough for people to want to work it (we do it for fun after all - don't we?). In addition we'll have to take time off work to man the Friday and possibly the monday for recovery purposes. I'm not trying to be negative here - I hope the event turns out to be a major success, I'm just having one of those rare reality checks... |

James, would it be yourself that was talking to us in Hailwoods at the weekend?
Oh and for the hours of darkness at the 24 hour 2CV race, we've always used flashing yellow lights for an incident - seems to work as well as anything..... |

LOL - well I don't think I'm going to be able to make the 2CV now - travel is just going to work out too expensive

Evil, I'm sorry but I did wait at the Kentagon for 15 minutes or so...didn't realise you were going to get your kit off before hand!...perhaps I should have waited longer!! So when are you back on these shores then? ...I'll try and get a thirst on! I spent many a long night in the Snet Pits all those years ago...there was a good number of us photograhers who hung around together who did the willhire, it was a great laugh though there now seems to be hundreds of "Snappers" at the circuts these days. I will certainly try and get there for next year but the big Hotair Balloon meeting in Bristol that weekend might keep me away.

Not sure when we're over next - there's a rumour we're going to try and get across for the BRDA in Anglesey... |
