Kinda reminds me of the good old days in F1 when the drivers could go jump in the back-up and take their original grid position for the restart.

What a shame. Lot of torn up gear. Bad month for that to happen.
That goodness everyone seems to be ok. |

So, let's try again. Ready for the second standing start. If this time it happened without some extra debris.

I noticed lots of empty seats in the stand opposite the pits.

It looks like everybody is sitting outside/inside of turn 1, I'm guessing a few thousand people. Infield stands look full, too.

Hawksworth back in the lead and he did a good job holding Pagenaud back, on his outlap from his pit stop.

I'd guess 10-20,000 when looking at Grand Am and MotoGP comparisons to today's crowds as those two series actually give out figures.

Castroneves gets the advantage from that yellow - has luck at Indy he does
Hawksworth has been impressive! ** Why so much yellow for a car that spun off into the sand - get him out & resume the race, shouldn't be 3,4 or 5 laps under yellow |

I could have sworn they were 5 wide on that restart.

Nice move by Wilson and yet another Yellow. The commentators on ABC are giving their ¢10 on the re-start procedure as is Graham Rahal.

The TV announcers mentioned an F1 Canadian Grand Prix started similarly.
It ended worse however. Researched that and 1982 was the year. Never heard of him but I now know who Riccardo Paletti was. |

Rahal speaks the truth. These restarts are deplorable.

He ran into the back of Pironi's stalled Ferrari. They had trouble getting him out of the car and it caught fire.

Hinchcliffe on a stretcher I saw holding his head, debris hit him there on the infield straight?

Congrats to Pagenaud.
Overall I don't think it was too bad a race but they need to sort out the restarts, which slightly marred it. |
