No, that's from his other (latest) investors who bought the second REC for the team.

Plus Wilson Security is sponsoring it - so they now have a stable income and cash flow.

I'd be curious to know just how much of DJR DJ actually still owns.

Penske will NOT buy in unless there is manufacturer involvement and a long term deal, so if it happens and Ford is involved, that bodes well for the immediate future in the next couple of seasons.

There is more going on in the background that isn't being made public.

Penske to buy back 2 Rec's off v8sca and form 2 car team with technical alliance with fpr,djr and Marcos ambrose to return to australia as lead Penske driver with will power to be team mate for enduros. Team will run our of djr as they have the space and let's face it will need some more $$$ if the want to be competitive anytime soon.

It was mentioned somewhere that the 888 enclave was an investment of somewhere around $10m. What with the impressive IP in the equipment that they run, the component parts, the customer base, these guys could ask double or triple that number, especially with the lucrative Red Bull contract on the cars till the end of 2015....

I'm inclined to agree.

I'd say he'll find himself racing GT cars stateside once the Nascar thing winds up.

Pretty sure I've heard him mention on more than one occasion he wants his kids to grow up here in Australia rather than stateside.

He has definitely said this but time is ticking. What if he came back to V8s and wasn't any good?

I certainly recall his comment about wanting his kids to grow up in Aust.

But yeah time flies, and what he wanted back then may not work out in the end, due to the tough nature of NASCAR and his want to be a big player within it.

His kids are well on there way to growing up in the US

Anyone else been thinking along the same lines of an expanded Volvo presence next year? The spare RECs are there.....

Does GRM have the money to buy another REC?

The sponsorship is looking abit sparse on the Volvo's this year

Oh for sure that quote was hypothetical, but I can't really see Volvo only wanting 2 cars in the series for long. It'd be good if the spare RECs got picked up by quality teams.

I notice that Whincup has only gone for a one year extension in case a better deal comes up.

I'm wondering if this means he is now classified as a 'mercenary' in the Roland Dane School of Ethics?

Gives Mr Dane a choice of two seats to land Mr van Gisbergen into, if/when he chooses to do so....

Dane 'deserves' to have van Gisbergen; it would be interesting to sit back and see how that pans out if it happens!

Its interesting that a few years back Whincup gave indications he wouldn't race much past 30... now he is saying that his 'best is yet to come'

Not the first to have a change of heart. MotoGP rider Colin Edwards once said he'd be done with motorcycle racing by the time he was 30 too, now he's 40 and still going.
