tocatrucky should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Sorry for ttthe humungous thread revival from the depths, but I was just watching the UK Comms 1993 DTM season review and it referred to the Linder Jägermeister BMW above driven by Amin Hahne as being built in the UK by TC Prototypes for Linder. Googling the name brought up this thread, how true was that statement? Who exactly were TC Prototypes?

I guess this thread could go in the historic section now too?

TC Prototypes was John Thompson, father of James Thompson. They were a specialist race car fabricator. Relevant to this forum they did the 90s BTCC Honda Accords and DTM Audi TTs, plus loads of other things prior to that.

Sorry to correct you Redshoes, but that's a different person. James' dad was David "Piggy" Thompson.

Call it old age, I was getting mixed up. Foss-Tech did the Accords / Audi TTs. TC Prototypes was John Thompson's company

flatlandsman has been held in scrutiny for further testing
Am not at all a modern touring car fan, but like many remember BTCC in the SUper Touring era fondly.

I think the best ever driver to sit in any touring car was Laurent Aiello, and he has done a podcast with the Supertouring pod guys, very interesting. Mainly on his approach from an early time with Oreca in 93 about winning championships and taking points over wins. Some great stuff about Peugeot and Le Mans (he hated it) and his early single seater career, he was destined for great things there until the fag money ran out, hence a move to touring cars, but he genuinely loved them, this comes across a lot. But the best but was his loathing of Plato, at Knockill 99., he really doesn't hold back especially about Thompson taking him out at Oulton "sometimes people deserve it!

A genuinely lovely man, humble about his achievement s and genuinely staggered that anyone can remember who he is! Always a good sign I guess.
