That's right. He seemed a typical, friendly Aussie guy, too, and I was hoping he might get a regular drive with ADR this year, but I guess money is a problem.

Ian Dyk proved he has what it takes in Mexico. He actually can overtake, something we haven't seen from Reindler. If his 3rd in the sprint race wasn't impressive enough, he then drove with torn right ankle ligaments in the feature race (tripped at the podium stairs to collect his medal!) and left foot braked as his foot had swollen to twice its normal size.

If he hadn't been baulked by Yoong off the start, and I suspect petrified of crashing the thing (this is not a kid with PHD...parents have dough), a more aggressive drive would have seen him finish better than 8th.

AJ needs to stick with this kid now, Dyk will get the job done in Shangai and we will finally have an A1 team to be proud of...and maybe see some positive media coverage.

So why was the Foster's branding missing from the car at the last round? Here's hoping Australia's team doesnt go the way of Team Singapore

Fosters decal was across rear spoiler and on fins of front spoiler at Mexico. No change from previous rounds from what I can see.

I would think that as the only sponsor of substance, Fosters got more than their fair share of decals on the car in early rounds as a show of committment from the team, but with the end of the season approaching the removal of livery from the sidepods would send the message to Fosters management that more money required in 2007/8 season for the full scale coverage.

If good results at Shanghai and G.B. who knows? maybe a bigger cheque and a sigh of relief from AJ.

I must admit I was excited bythe whole A1GP concept when it started out. But the inept way Team Australia has been handled with it's rotating door policy for drivers has seen it earn the predicament it has found itself in, and as a result, not that many people really care......

I am sure that if they had the choice they would have kept Ryan Briscoe in the car rather than changing to Ian Dyk via that other bloke I can't even remember the name of.

Anyway Ian Dyk showed promise in Mexico so hopefully they'll be able to keep him and develop him as USA are doing with Sommerton.

Ian Dyk brings almost zero $$$, Reindler had a 'parental scholarship' but poor results and pressure on the team to appear further up the grid meant that AJ had to buckle and give Dyk his chance, even if it meant sacrificing the easy dollar. Dyk is something special, he won't disappoint as he is a racer and does know how to overtake. He would also be very aware that stuffing up at Shanghai and Brands Hatch means looking for another career.

I am always watching. The rotating door policy seems more of the drivers moves not the teams

facts are Karl was slow, and was paying his way... as has most of the drivers for australia bar power and disco....

Dyk will do well given the chance, but neil would be a good choice as well... as you can't test in this catagory running a test day in an F3 shows who can cut it or not...

oh and if anyone thinks CL would be last has some serious issues... maybe you are not old enough to remeber CL in a FF or F Holden?

Putting someone who has been running a touring car for the last decade would not be the best step foward.

Where is the evidence that Karl was paying his way?

Lets give Ian Dyk a few more events before concluding whether it has been the car or the driver that has been slow

Wasn't there three drivers for the first season with Christian Jones being one of them? I do remember that being the policy at some stage and subsequently I got rather peaved that no driver was given the chance to develop with the car, and therefore Team Oz given no chance of ever being a serious contender for the championship.......

The sad thing is the team's original choice, Will Power, is now doing great things in Champ Cars, but that's how it's always going to be. A1GP is not a career move; it's a highly entertaining way of passing the (mostly) winter months.
