It's nowhere near that simple with Justin's investors. A CART drive doesn't look like as good an investment either, considering that he's had a chance in F1 and is (unfairly, in my view) percieved to have not made brilliant use of it.

Agree with that Boots. Going to any series other than F1 is going to look like a step backwards for Wilson. His investors made that investment for him to be an F1 star, and nothing else.
That's a shame to, because 1 or 2 good years in Champ Cars would look very good to a decent F1 team. |

That is the risk of such a sharp move to the very top.
Had he taken a slower but meaningful road, then his chances would still be good; unfortunately Things went dofferently, and nobody can change them. However it's not sure that investors would have tolerated a meduim/long term strategy. |

You're certainly right Boots about Manning having lots of personality. Every driver who's been in F1 they mention having F1 experience. Christian, JJ Leto, Johnanson, etc. all were made to appear larger than they were due to F1 experience. From the perspective of initially attracting sponsors, having the coveted F1 experienced driver badge would be a big plus. When having the driver meet clients, press, important people, etc. Manning would be gold.
Wilson put in a good run for Mindardi. He did what should be expected of a driver who would be in the top 4 teams or so later in his career. I ignore the Jaguar fiasco, because he is not 1.5 seconds a lap slower than Webber and neither is Pizzonia. A better prepared Alex Yoong would not be 1.5 seconds a lap slower than Webber. |

Now that Baumgartner has been confirmed at Minardi, Justin's only hope in F1 is with Jordan and that looks extremely unlikely. Hopefully he will get a chance in Champcar.

I think you can say with certainty that Justin has all the F1 doors to him closed for the time being. It's champcars or bust.
