Help in identifying driver/chassis from 1963 Road America 500
I took this shot at the 1963 Road America 500 in Elkhart Lake, WI. I'm pretty sure it is an Elva Mk 7. Can anyone identify the driver/team/entrant? I don't really need to know the chassis number, but I'm sure it would be of interest to some of you out there.
It is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8571609@N03/1305012768/ Thanks, in advance! Scott Last edited by ssperka; 2 Sep 2007 at 17:25. Reason: picture not showing up |

Happy New year to you all.
What Mk7 was used by the Rhodesian driver Dr. Dawie Simon Gous at the 1965 Angola Grand Prix? It had a Porsche engine, was painted "Lotus Green" with a longitudinal yellow stripe and raced with #12, finishing 5th. Thank you, Regards Luis |

Elva Mk 7S
For sale in the October 2010 issue of Octane is the ex Tony Lanfranchi (1963/64) car. Offered for sale by Gaël Regent (France?).
Another one for sale was the ex-Keith St John/Radio London car owned by Michael Henderson which was advertised in the Summer 2010 (ie the Australian summer) issue of The Oily Rag (The Journal of the HSRCA of NSW), but in the next issue it was withdrawn from sale. This latter issue had an article on ex-Radio London cars down under. The Elva had to be rebuilt in recent years after a severe crash, restored back to 1960s specifications around a replacement chassis constructed on the original Elva jigs by Elva Racing Components in England. “The wrecked chassis was cut up and dumped.” [posts 5, 6 and 13 refer to Michael Henderson's car] |

Here's another long lost Elva MkVII accounted for:
Bernard Bradpiece's Elva MkVII (Twin-Cam) Racecar, chassis# 70-018 (article includes 45 photos of the car, immediately post-restoration) Please let me know if you spot any mistakes in the write-up. I'll be happy to make corrections. |

I recently acquired Elva Mk7 70-006, which according to Lola factory records was originally sold to Stephen Minoprio and is one of the Equipe Elva(London) team cars. Originally listed as being simply "Green", I'd like to get it back into period livery and would greatly appreciate any info or photos on actual color, livery, markings, etc. Thanks!
Best, Tom Currently looks like this... |

Paul Linton Mk 7
Apologies for resurrecting this old thread.
I'd be grateful if anyone has any period pictures of the Paul Linton Mk 7. He raced, sometimes entered by Radio London, between 65 and 67, mostly in BARC and other Clubman events. Apparently white/purple, as per the first post in this thread. The car originally appears to have been fitted with an 1150 Ford engine, and then a twin cam was fitted. No chassis number I'm afraid. Some more information on the man would be great too! Thanks |

Elva MkVII history research
Hello,
I am looking to try and track down some early history (results/photos) of an Elva MkVII that I own. Here is what I have so far - any help appreciated! 1963 Elva MkVII Chassis No 70/024 - Lotus-Ford Twin Cam. History: - 1963 - Exported to the USA with Carl Hass - 1978 - Nick Engles owned the car in the US - Chuck Haines, Canam Cars purchased the car - 1979 - Ian Webb of Northdown Racing purchased the car and returned it to the UK - Alex Seldon purchase the car - Jonathan Bradburn purchased the car - 1980 - Nigel Dawes purchased the car - 1981 Willi Widar purchased the car and it moved to Belgium - 1984 Walter Neff purchased the car and it moved to Switzerland - 2003 Clive Wilson purchased the car and it moved to the UK. It had good runs in the Guards Trophy finishing second in 2007, 2008 and winning in 2010. You can see that the tricky period is the earlier years in the USA as I have not been able to discover a name to review with racing results. Example resources I have been digging into: https://www.racingsportscars.com/ https://web.archive.org/web/20100909...usrrc1963.html Example image of the car in question - Red Elva at Goodwood Revival: https://www.motorsportimages.com/pho...69/1013666769/ Many thanks! Martin |
