Although any involving Montoya will get my vote I think Coulthard on Trulli in the closing stages at Silverstone is worth a mension. I liked it because he built up to it through previous corners Cleverly positioning his car so that Trulli unwittingly defended just as he wanted him to until finally getting by into Vale around the outside
(I did something similar whilst fun Karting once it's an amazing feeling if you pull it off) |

Rubens at Silverstone was awesome, he pulled 3 moves of note, the best being the move into Bridge on Kimi.
Still havent seen the Nurburgring JPM vs Schumi move because I was on holiday at the time...D'oh! But there have been several overtaking moves this year which have been pretty special. I love it! Just thought back to the opening few laps in Oz, they were absolutely manic! Loved it! |

Just to be funny... How about everybody "overtaking" the nutjob at Silverstone without hitting him. God must have been on his side at the time.

Surely Stephen Greens manoeuvre on the nut-job was the best
Oh, that wasn't overtaking, but taking-over |

I know many of you don't really rate Pizzonia (I rate him a lot) but do you recall the way he started the Grand Prix of Austria? It was amazing, especially the way he overtook Trulli coming out of the Gösser Kurve.Incredible aggressive but still very unsoiled manoeuvre at a hard overtaking point.

One move though. Was hardly the best of the year though was it. Is a shame what happened to him though. Drivers should be given more time than that for showing their worth but that is a different subject that I am sure has been covereed b4 |

Some overtaking are great but, as they are done by non-superstars are notspotted by TV: i.e. Wilson made 8 passes in a lap with Minardi this year, can't exactly remember in which GP.
But i knew that from stats, because no camera let me watch. |

As you said, he was doing well in Austria: Pizzonia too did not make the most of his chances although he drove well in the early laps to snatch sixth place from eighth on the grid. That lasted only until the first stop when the rain came and then he tumbled down the order, the team having decided to fill him up. A few laps later he went skittering off the road and by the time he was back on the road again he was down near the back. He fought back well but ninth was his only reward. http://www.grandprix.com/gpe/rr703.html Last edited by DieRitter; 23 Oct 2003 at 13:02. |

Haha, Alonso on Schumacher, Hungary!
Now serious, JPM on Schumacher was classic stuff... Those three points he gained from being pushed back out were valuable, weren't they? |

That's not really overtaking though, that's dirty driving If the roles had been reversed, with Schumacher forcing Raikkonen onto the grass, you'd be screaming "You ****ing cheater!" |

Well, my memory isn't great, but I can't recall seeing a battle between Schumacher and Villeneuve in 1997 other than Jerez. I bet you were hoping Villeneuve would take Schumacher out |

Just to be Devil's advocate (which is on telly at the moment) Portugal '96? Although I do think that move over-rated (however I accept I am in the minority here).

According to the readers of F1Racing the top 6 moves of the season were....
JPM on Michael, Lap 43 Nurburgring Rubens on Kimi, Lap 42 Silverstone Michael on Jarno, Lap 59 Hockenheim Kimi on DC, Lap 11 Interlagos Fisi on Kimi, Lap 54 Interlagos DC on Jarno, Lap 57 Silverstone Surprised that Rafes move on Michael at Hungary or JPM's on Rubens at Suzuka didn't make it in there. Uhm, Barri on Kimi at Silverstone was nice.
Kimi on Schumi at Melbourne isn't exactly a pass. TGF on JV was a good one too. But Monty on TGF at the Nurb is my absolute favourite though! |

Monty's move on Schumi at the Nurburgring was tops. And I definitely throw in a vote for Kimi taking Schumi to the grass in Melbourn. It was gutsy stuff. Call it a pass, or a dirty move. He stuck to his guns against TGF.

Teo that spring to mind are Rubens going round the outside of Kimi at Silverstone and then fighting wheel-to-wheel with Monty at the same race.
Wouldn't go for Monty's move on Schuey at Nurburgring as the best because, although gutsy, it was clear the Michael's Ferrari was an absolute sitting duck at that stage of the race. A couple of Ralf's moves at Hungary weren't too bad either! |
