If Ferrari need anyone, it's Adrian Newey. But he's a bit of a 'home boy', apparently.
Christian Horner has, today, told the BBC: "Sebastian Vettel, without a shadow of doubt, will be part of the Red Bull Racing team in 2014," However, Mr Marko has said: "2013 is fixed for us," Marko told Germany's Bild, "but, for 2014, there is a performance-related clause in his contract - for him and for the team." So, if Red Bull don't perform well in 2013 (unlikely), there could still be a chance for him to go to Ferrari. But if they do perform, then he's probably contracted to remain at Red Bull, FOREVER! |

Except most posters on here don't accept that argument for Hamilton. If you go to the Lewis to Merc thread the rubbish is still continuing about brand and money.

No engine supplier in their right mind is going to give Red Bull anything but the best, whoever they happen to be. You want your engine in the best car. And as far as Renault are concerned, Red Bull is that car. So they won't be left in the dark with regard to the specifics of the 2014 powerplant. They probably know more than most about it, already.

I think this is incredibly well thought out by Ferrari and Vettel (if true).
If Red Bull slip and Ferrari do well/better or whatever, Vettel gets to move. If Red Bull stay competitive and Ferrari not so much, Vettel stays and Ferrari go for their second option, which is Hulkenberg in holding pattern status at Sauber. Pretty good! All parties have a safety net! Good work to all involved (if true)! |

Agreed that the 2014 regulations will have more emphasis on engine/ERS technology. Renault seem to be the keenest on these regulations. Last edited by Marbot; 15 Oct 2012 at 23:41. |

Renault would know more about racing turbos than anyone else currently involved in F1. Probably than anyone, period.

Porsche were last involved in F1 as TAG in 1984(?) and Honda were now some time ago 1987?? Both are not currently involved in F1, but it may explain why Honda is rumoured to be sniffing around. We can but hope! |

Just reading Joe Sewards link on Twitter. Obviously, he doesn't actually know anymore than we do, but he thinks that Seb having a pre-contract with Ferrari gives him leverage for a better contract with Red Bull for 2014.
He remains convinced that Webber will end up as Alonso's team mate in 2014. |

maybe Joe knows something and people are staying in sports for longer and longer these days but Webber will be 38 in 2014...which would be around the same age as they dumped Schumi and as they last let Badoer turn a wheel in anger.

Honda are pretty good aren't they? Seem to be on point in the BTCC anyway from what ive seen of it, had to have their boost dialled back as it was unfair?

Massa now officially with Ferrari for 2013 definitely supports someone longer term coming in for 2014. They certainly wouldn't be signing Massa for years to come just because he had TWO decent races, although still failed to beat his teammate (he never would have passed Alonso even if he were allowed). Must rule Hulk and Di Resta out, otherwise why wouldn't you add them for 2013? So more likely one of the RB drivers. Don't see it being Webber when he's 38...
Dammit Vettel!!! I don't know if it's the teams motto or Alonso that wants them to have a second driver that NEVER beats the main driver, but I think it stinks. It makes sense of course, but everything is on Alonso to perform. And it costs them constructors titles with Massa getting 1 podium in 2 years, while Alonso racks up 19 in the same period. It's just not sporting to have a second driver whose sole purpose is to get the few remaining points but never, ever, beat Alonso. Certainly doesn't make me respect Alonso and Ferrari, and I truly hope when Vettel arrives, he shows him the exhaust. The problem is I guess Vettel will take over from Massa, and get all Massa's mechanics and team. And you can be damn sure the best employees at Ferrari work with Alonso, no Massa. Vettel will really be on the back foot there. It's a bad move. Sometimes I wonder if Massa's car is intentionally slower so that he can't match Alonso. Just doesn't make sense that after winning 6 races in 2008 and NEARLY winning the title, and giving Raikkonen an ass kicking, he's only finished on the podium 7 times (and no wins) in the 4 years since. |
