FWIW, which is nothing as he isn’t a member here, Nico looks like he would vote for Lewis.

"How great is Lewis, he is the best driver on the grid and is in the best form of his career. He will win the WDC".
"by the way, remember that time I beat him in the same car? " Very clever Nico! |

So he did, then promptly left F1. However, he is one of only 4 drivers to have won Monaco, 3 times in a row.

FWIW, Lewis deserves it as far as I'm concerned. Still, I voted Raikkonen, 'cause he deserved it too. |

By the logic presented here, lap one is not seen as important to determining the merits of a driver's performance. So Vettel made up 14 places after L1, Hamilton only 1. Seems to be that Vettel was the better driver on the day and so gets my vote? |

Sometimes you only need to overtake one car to win....

It's the argument that was dismissed by many after Silverstone when Hamilton came from the back. 'Some cars aren't very difficult to pass when you're in the fastest car....'

Just back from Ricard without knowing anything about the race, so was able to catch up from scratch! Doesn’t often happen... For me it had to be Kimi or Lewis, but voting for the former would have been out of sympathy, so gave it to LH. A very ‘racy’ drive from him, which is always good to watch.....

Both those drivers attract people who can’t see that too and lose the ability to be rationale. |

Lewis is a sublime racer and a worthy champion. We can all (bar one) agree that whoever takes the title this year will be a worthy owner of the "5-time WDC" title next to his name. |

It feels to me like it cheapens the accomplishments of the record holders of old, to be honest. I just can't hold Lewis' potential 5 titles up against Fangio's 5, it just seems too easy for that.

Many might perceive that you are just fundamentally biased against Hamilton. It certainly comes across from your posts....

Not sure why it cheapens the accomplishments of record holders when it comes to titles. I understand points because of the change in the system, but titles?

I don’t see any cheapening of Fangio’s titles. Or indeed anyone else’s, even JV’s.

I do, for instance I don't agree with a statement that current multiple world champions hold up against those from the past, especially the 50's-60's.
While the current crop of champions are certainly talented, they just don't compare to the champions of the past. It's a bit like comparing someone who plays Battlefield 1942 on the PC to someone who actually fought in WW2. |

Arguably the bloke in the yellow helmet, who had ‘only’ 3 titles to his name, was/is the Greatest Of All Time....
