Ive seen cars flip up when hitting tires before, but that got some serious distance! And there really isn't much else you can do in this situation. There was paved runoff, followed by gravel, followed by tires and fencing, and still the car is in the stands.

I think we are in serious danger of ruining a race thread here.
We’ve got more relevant threads where this can breathe without ruining the race weekend thread. |

The race weekend.
Timetabe Circuit map useful for sectors and the like Entry list The times so far: First Practice Second Practice Top speeds. That an interesting one. They are highlighting that top five averages. Look at the variation in LMP2 here, compared to the other classes. All from the usual place. |

Considering you guys already had this whole discussion during Sebring, probably no need to do it again so soon, haha
Lately, it seems even the specter of the word "BoP" makes people behave in strange ways But I just want to reiterate - we haven't even heard the manufacturers (the ones shelling out big money for these ad campaigns on wheels ) themselves complain yet, and people are already up in arms! |

I'm more interested in this than Long Beach somehow, think the real race track is more interesting than the walls. Hopefully I'll get to catch some of it and listen late and doing rear brakes on my truck this weekend.

Me too. It’s a proper length. Although I’m a fan of the odd stupid silly event even if they are far from their natural habitat.

The vanwall does not look bad at all - in the mix so far with the group behind Toyota and Ferrari
The glick seems way of the pace which is quite concerning considering they have 2 years of running Porsche still off the pace |

Well, we’ve all been saying we expect that Vanwall to go well - it’ll be on fire we said.
Fun to see and good to see Peugeot have a little pace. Just a one off, just practice, or can they make this pace consistent? |

Porsche in the seating (turn 1 incident) at Algarve International Circuit, Portimao.
Obviously, the FIA etc on site will be able to make the most informed point of view/ report, follow-up etc. The grandstand where the incident occurred has been closed. My own keyboard observations - 1) the circuit appears as though it could also work in a reverse direction with modifications. Instead of the tight turn 1 at the end of the front straight, the sweeper 15 (at the end of a reversed front straight could allow more run off area, though with a lot of reduced crowd seating) 2) Using the existing clockwise direction, an extra chicane (in the sweeper 15 area) could reduce entry speeds onto the front straight and reduce the speeds for braking before the tight turn 1. 3) What appears to be the 'solution for some circuits' is the current fence with a higher back fence and moving the seating further back or reducing the seating in the area. (about 10 sections) |

Please no shitty chicane! A separate tire wall in front of the permanent barrier might be more helpful as the tires will simply move backwards in its entirety, instead of getting compressed before expanding and launching a car to unimaginable locations. |

I know he didn't get pole, but that was an outrageous performance from Aubry in that session.
Wonder if #63 will get some sort of penalty though... |
