Message actually from Bill Turnbull - he forgot Shelagh was logged on!!!

As one of the marshals marshalling (Knicker Brook In) I have a complaint - one red flag in the morning and one in the afternoon isn't enough for me to get some of my book read! - especially as I had to help out on the second one clearing up the oil that Mike Newton's car had spread around Cascades. I didn't notice anyone from the paddock rushing down to help out!!!

Glad you all enjoyed yourselves - you might like to know it was colder on Wednesday, and we had lots more stoppages!

Hope to see you all next year.....

I thought Mike used special non slippy oil so that the marshals did not have to clear up after a spill

that's probably why it blew up then....!

and we were on strict instructions to leave the marshalling alone for the day, we couldn't even wear our probies to hoon about the track. i understand why tho....

I apologise for probably not waving to you, think i was a bit busy braking hard enough in my 106 to ensure you all got home on time

It didnt blow up, it was suffering from a leaking head gasket all day, hence the small amount of oil, the engine had been rebuilt about 2 years ago but not used. Mike decided to risk the engine so as not to dissapoint the marshals. It eventually blew the head gasket between the cylinder and the water system. Game over.

Hi Jim! Thanx for all your help on the day - see Caption competiton.

Thanx to everybody who organised it and the marshals who were trackside - at least it was the start of the week and not now with the temperature having plummeted. I managed to wave to all the marshals on post but then I wasn't driving..............................................................

I'd like to thank everyone at Oulton Park and MSV for an awesome track day.
This is the 3rd one I've done and they have all been fantastic.I'd like to thank Marc and Richard who brought the Ferrari And GT3 Porsche and gave some awesome fast laps. Also thanks to Julian Brown and Richard Beaty at Wolfdirectracing for bringing the flying Punto up and taking people on hot laps.Unfortunately the engine went sick in the afternoon in the punto, but nothing too serious. Hopefully they will bring some more cars to play with to some of the other track days. There's been mention of a Jag XJS V12 on nitrous making an appearance at Brands!
Cant wait to get a drive of that if it does!
I have to say that there was a great atmosphere at Oulton Park, and relatively few "offs" to deal with.I had plenty of fun thrashing the life out my cinquecento and then thrashed it up the M56 that night to go to Motor Club meeting. Not bad for an 1108 engine thats done 48000 miles!
The piccies are superb that hepatic and steve took .Has anyone else got any more ?Especially of the Punto so I can send them to wolfdirectracing.

I had a very nice e-mail from JP this morning saying he has been really impressed by the number of messages since the OP day and that other groups could learn from the politeness of marshals.

There's a feather in your caps ladies and gents.

Spider Fun

Many thanks to Ian Briggs for inviting us to provide some hot laps for the marshalls at Oulton Park. The two of us in our Renault Spider race cars had a great time taking you all out on the track and were VERY pleased to see so many smiling faces when you got out of our cars.

So nice to see you don't suffer from arachnophobia......because spiders can be scary!!!

It's always great to give something back. Without the guys and gals in orange we wouldn't be able to race, and we really appreciate the work you do. My own car was on the BMMC stand at the NEC show about 5 years ago. I'm really happy that we were able to show you all what it's like for us when we're racing, and give you an idea of what we experience when on the track.

Please invite us again, we'll be happy to attend. Just a shame the Ford RS200 wasn't in a fit condition to bring along on the day, but I'm sure you'll see it at Oulton Park next season.

Once again, thanks for a great day.

Graham,

From all of us a huge thanks you for making the effort to come along and give the guys and girls rides in the cars. Although I wasn't there I hope to see you at one of the coming track days and share a coffee and a joke or two.

To everyone who helped on the day THANK YOU.
