Larry is the Team Manager now who is running the day-to-day operations....
Thus, I'm not sure if he'll be in a car at all, unless it has doors on it and starts with a key. My guess is that Manning and Al Jr. are his two entries, with the third car held back as a possible "lease" or a Bump Day pick-up like Foyt did with Giaffone two years ago to bump his way into the field. |

according to an interview he did just before Homestead, he said he would be racing in the 500 again
i reckon Foyt is good to run 3 cars this season |

Great news for Ryan, he deserves it as he has been terrific in ALMS so far for Penske.

Um...correct me if i'm wrong...but since it's May are we supposed to have all the cars that are supposed to be driving in by now? If so...we don't have close to 33 yet...

I believe we do, just without all the drivers confirmed at the moment.
Entries so far are: 1 - Penske - H. Castroneves (W) 2 - Penske - S. Hornish Jr (W) 3 - Penske - ? 4 - Ganassi - S. Dixon 5 - Ganassi - D. Wheldon (W) 6 - Vision - T. Scheckter 7 - Vision - E. Carpenter 8 - Vision - AJ Foyt IV 9 - Vision - ? D. Hamilton/T. Bell/PJ Cheeson 10 - Andretti/Green - D. Patrick 11 - Andretti/Green - T. Kanaan 12 - Andretti/Green - Marco Andretti 13 - Andretti/Green - D. Franchitti 14 - Andretti/Green - Michael Andretti 15 - Rahal/Letterman - S. Sharp 16 - Rahal/Letterman - J. Simmons 17 - Panther - V. Meira 18 - Panther - K. Matsuura 19 - Panther - ? R. Hunter-Reay/M. Papis/H. Mutoh 20 - Foyt - D. Manning 21 - Foyt - A. Unser Jr 22 - Foyt - ? J. Bucknum/F. Giaffone/R. Hearn 23 - Dreyer & Reinbold - B. Rice (W) 24 - Dreyer & Reinbold - S. Fisher 25 - Luczo Dragon - R. Briscoe 26 - Cabbie - ? R. Yasukawa/J. Howard/W. Cunningham 27 - PDM - ? J. Kite/T. Medeiros 28 - Racing Professionals - J. Herb 29 - Roth - M. Roth 30 - Playa Del - J. Lazier 31 - Playa Del - P. Geibler 32 - SAMAX - M. Duno 33 - CURB/Agajanian/Beck - A. Barron 34 - CURB/Agajanian/Beck - ? D. Hamilton or ? 35 - Chastain - S. Gregoire 36 - Hemelgarn - ? J. Kite/PJ Cheeson 37 - Team Leader/Dollander - PJ Jones 38 - Sam Schmidt - B. Lazier (W) So that gives us 38 entries with only the third Penske & the second CURB/Agajanian/Beck entries unlikely to field drivers, giving us a grand total of 36, with 6-8 drivers still to be announced. |

Yep. Penske have been entering a third car for the last few years to act as an extra reserve car for it's regular drivers. Slightly over the top IMO but each to their own....

Those TBA Drivers kinda look familiar to me, Alwaysfirst
Wouldn't you know that after I posted my column yesterday that a rumor is now out there about Kenny Brack possibly driving the third Foyt entry (Car 41)....but I have no idea if he is considering it. |

PDM announced Jimmy Kite as their driver for the 500 today.
It'll be a 2nd week effort, and the chassis is a Panoz, not a Dallara as originally listed on the Official Entry List. He drove for PDM in 2003 and was the "mover" of the race (32nd to 13th). From everything I've heard, he is a classy guy. A good pick, IMO. |

Many of those ideas were in general circulation anyway to be fair. Autosport is reporting that Davey Hamilton will be racing at Vision, whilst Max Papis will replace Alex Barron at Beck as he has run out of money. Shame if it is true as it would have been nice to see both run, but hardly a surprise. Now looking like this..... 1 - Penske - H. Castroneves (W) 2 - Penske - S. Hornish Jr (W) 3 - Penske - ? 4 - Ganassi - S. Dixon 5 - Ganassi - D. Wheldon (W) 6 - Vision - T. Scheckter 7 - Vision - E. Carpenter 8 - Vision - AJ Foyt IV 9 - Vision - ? D. Hamilton/T. Bell/PJ Cheeson 10 - Andretti/Green - D. Patrick 11 - Andretti/Green - T. Kanaan 12 - Andretti/Green - Marco Andretti 13 - Andretti/Green - D. Franchitti 14 - Andretti/Green - Michael Andretti 15 - Rahal/Letterman - S. Sharp 16 - Rahal/Letterman - J. Simmons 17 - Panther - V. Meira 18 - Panther - K. Matsuura 19 - Panther - ? R. Hunter-Reay/H. Mutoh 20 - Foyt - D. Manning 21 - Foyt - A. Unser Jr 22 - Foyt - ? J. Bucknum/F. Giaffone/R. Hearn 23 - Dreyer & Reinbold - B. Rice (W) 24 - Dreyer & Reinbold - S. Fisher 25 - Luczo Dragon - R. Briscoe 26 - Cabbie - ? R. Yasukawa/J. Howard/W. Cunningham 27 - PDM - J. Kite 28 - Racing Professionals - J. Herb 29 - Roth - M. Roth 30 - Playa Del - J. Lazier 31 - Playa Del - P. Geibler 32 - SAMAX - M. Duno 33 - CURB/Agajanian/Beck - ? A. Barron/M. Papis 34 - CURB/Agajanian/Beck - ? 35 - Chastain - S. Gregoire 36 - Hemelgarn - ? PJ Cheeson 37 - Team Leader/Dollander - PJ Jones 38 - Sam Schmidt - B. Lazier (W) Last edited by Alwaysfirst; 3 May 2007 at 23:02. |

Davey Hamilton will be announced as Vision's fourth driver today....
Sorry to hear that Barron is gone, but Max can drive... It also tells me that Beck will proabably use the 43 car as a backup. Kenny brack is a possibility for the 3rd Foyt car |

Some very interesting developments for the "TBAs" as noted by Curt Cavin of the Indianapolis Star in his blog this morning....
Here is the link: http://blogs.indystar.com/racingexpert/ John Andretti has wanted to come back for a while, but deals never seemed to solidify...If John does have $ponsor money, it will be interesting to see where he goes.... Beck sounds like the door is wide open, and Barron may not be on the outside looking in just yet... I still hope that Ryan Hunter-Reay and/or Townsend Bell can land seats for the 500, but with that list on neames, yet no mention of either one, it may not look very promising for them for this year. We'll find out soon enough.... |

RHR did A1GP and the Daytona 24 hour this year, and will be doing Busch per his website.
John Andretti will also be doing Busch this season as well, according to the Andretti family website. I had forgotten he had 2 wins in what was the Winston Cup in NASCAR (pre-Nextel Cup). It would be very cool to see both of them at the 500 this year. |

A1 Team USA will be branding a car again this year; Rice's DRR entry will be the "A1 Team USA/Dreyer & Reinbold" car.

I covered this in my column today. Andretti is close, but not finalized just yet. Yasukawa will depend on how Buddy & Sarah qualify this weekend, or if they have any mishaps |
