I'm torn with regards to this rumoured GTE announcement at Fuji. I'd love to get the McLaren thing out in the open and finally on the table.

But at the same time, with it being in Japan and given we know the McLaren's are coming, it would be great to see something else come out.

There aren't any links to it because there isn't enough to build a story around. It's just being banded around on twitter by people like John Dagys who are in the know.

He said on his Sportscar chat last night when someone asked would it be a Japanese manufacturer: "Japanese or British". So trying to keep it vague.

I don't really know why McLaren would specifically announce in Fuji. Unless they have had guys like Martin Whitmarsh who stayed in Japan after the GP? I know he was at Donington to support the customer teams the other week.

So Nissan GTR GTE, McLaren MP4-12C GTE or longshot Jaguar F-Type R GTE....The next F1 round is Korea and with the AsLMS springing up soon it's a good place to launch a new GTE...

I hope they don't, they're just asking for trouble doing that. Endurance racing 101 - never make major changes before a big event (I.e. Peugeot 2010). Imagine if the engine blew at Fuji of all places... embarrassing!
Disapointing that Toyota arn't running their 2nd car at the final race, especially as Davidson was in Japan for SKY F1 TV and the Japanese fans like him as he has always raced for Japanese Manufacturers.

Can the F-Type be homologated as a GTE when it's not even for sale yet?

Actually the Viper is eligible under ACO rules as well. That is why SRT can compete at Le Mans if they choose to.

Japanese or British? First guesses would be a Nissan GTR GTE, perhaps even a Lexus LFA GTE? More likely it's British and it turns out to be McLaren if an announcement is made. But announcing it in Japan is funny for a British make... they could have done it at Silverstone and convinced the locale to return next year.

Perhaps it is both Japanese and British? A JRM built GT-R perhaps? Japanese car, British preparation and operation. Maybe Akebono is stirring up some publicity since they are a supplier for everything McLaren makes. Any other British-Japanese collaborations/connections possible for GTE?

#35 OAK is missing, because the team is bringing back the LMP1 car with HPD power and two of its drivers (Kraihamer and Baguette) have been running in the #35 for the last few rounds.
