The car was first pushed to a place of safety by MS & 2 marshals (turn or corner workers depending on your origins) Having got it to a place of safety MS was offered a ride back to the pits i a golf cart. He declined, as he said his contract states he must stay with the car to protect it from damage or being photographed without permission. Indeed he took great pains to ensure that phothogs in the area only took pictures of him, and he kept moving in front of the car to prevent shots of it. The reference to crossing the track was aimed at photographers who risked crossing the live track to get pics of MS! The incident with the pushing was when it was being recovered at the end of session, and a fireman, who would not have experience of pushing race cars, took hold of the wing - this will cause damage, - you push F1 cars either on the rear wheels, with gloves, those tyres are ho....ot, or on the wing supports, not the ends of the wing. MS asked he change position, and while though quick and abrubt to prevent damage this was not done in a rude way. I was course observer at post 5, but my mate Bedroll was the marshal pushing on the wheel of MS's car and has given the above account. |
