Is it just me or ar the ALMS results actually much harder to predict than their European counterparts?

Looks like it... bloody hell, got 3 out of 4 poles right and NOTHING from the race itself.

Well in LMS you're pretty much guaranteed to get free points from GTE-AM (with IMSA being there) and when diesels are involved it's a pretty straightforward case as well. Also FLM field is smaller and less competitive.

Yes, ALMS rounds have scored surprisingly low at time. And even crazier the rounds with double or triple points haven't produced the highest scores. See the table below for average scores per race
