Well, we'll need at least another flaggy and quadruple the number of Incident marshals. For the last 2 years I've done Flags with Startline Ed on Woodcote Gap and that's worked out well. Also this being Silverstone the I/O tends to be a member of the BRDC club - at least the last 2 joining us on the gap have been.

Maybe include Ed on your post have an IO and 2 BRDC incidents plus you and your wife as incident marshals. Then you've got the requireed numbers

Sorted! Me and Ed normally do Woodcote gap as it's easy for Ed to make the switch from startline to flag.

Is woodcote gap the one between the track and the pit entrance? I bet that's a MEGA post to work on!

Its the one on the outside of the circuit, just before the start gantry, commentary boxes. I.e. in front of where the old Autosport Tower used to be.

It's on the outside of the track opposite the hospitality boxes in the pit entry road - about 100yards downstream from the start gantry. And yes. it is mega especially when 80 odd sports racing cars come charging towards the flag.

On the Friday, Startline Ed is driving sheep across London Bridge, but he will be back for night practice, if not earlier.

And if its a DSC race promptly have a large accident towards Ped Bridge. Green, Yellow and Red flags through my hands in 30s.

Dad is correct, I am due to be driving sheep across London Bridge on that Friday morning. There is no bizarre reason for this nor am I the only one doing so. I and the others taking part are merely exercising our right.

I did go to university in Wales but all I picked up was a degree. No accent and no disturbing ovine related habits.

How can I find out if I've really volunteered for this event, or just have a false memory of volunteering.

I vaguely remember volunteering a long time ago (but still this year), and my calendar at home has me listed as volunteering, BUT how can I make sure I am on the list, and that my overalls will be ready (i.e. they might need to order a huge amount of proban specifically ).

I'm new to this marshalling lark (first year) and hear a lot about this event. Just wondered if someone can let me know what the set up is for it? Take it you don't have to stand on post for the full 24hrs

The other question is, should I do it? (although I think I already know your answers... )

Nope, usually posts will have some sort of shift system inplace, timings are dependent on the people on post

I got told by my mate from North Wales that my Welsh accent makes me sound 'like a Taff' and I spent part of Sunday wandering round Pembrey Country Park looking for the bit that meets the track we didnt even find it!
Anyway, I think that qualifies me, but only if Fran understands that us girls should stick together instead of joining in with you lot taking the mick out of me like at Combe!!!

The country park is no where near the track, so it doesn't meet it at all. However, if you can find your way onto the national cycle path which goes near the gate of the park and then through the forestry areas, and are prepared for a 2 mile odd walk.

Gachjoel, I should think Alan Tyson would be the man to talk to.
